For those who don't orchestra -- here are the jokes (sorry if I missed anything) 1st violin is like the "main character" and gets all the melodic parts of the music, thus the "arrogant" demeanor 2nd violin usually play lower notes than the 1st violin so they may find the high notes hard to play Viola is... viola Cello needs a high chair while playing, while Double Bass stands while playing Flute plays a lot of repeated stuff over and over again Piccolo is really small and high pitched Clarinet squeaks a lot (eg. when you blow and your teeth touches the reed) Oboe players make their own reeds that includes shaving and cutting them into the desired shape Bassoon is really soft and can't really be heard when everyone's playing in the orchestra (also low pitched) Trumpet is really loud Trombone is also really loud but lower pitched French Horn tends to have the split/cracking notes when they come in Tuba is really low, and tend to play the tonic note (the base note in the chord) Pianists tend to drum their fingers on everything, also they often play as the accompanist (pun on compliments) Voice is uhhh they have their stereotypes I guess, and they're super careful about their food/drinks in order to preserve the throat Percussion in orchestra tend to get a lot of rests (like hundreds of bars at a time) and maybe just come in for 1 cymbal crash, so it's easy to lose focus and forget to come in Feel free to add on :D

Also one of the most annoyingly famous tunes for oboe is the "Duck" by Prokofieff. Double Bass often plays what something similar to the Cello parts. And brass players seem to be known all around the world to be drunkards. Which they are. Oh boy, I can confirm that.

Oh wait, there is more! The Horn, yes they have this squeeking tone splitting thing, but they also have to get rid of the condensed water in their instrument. So every know and then during rehearsal or concert they take off one part of their complex brass intestants, where the water is pooling and spill that onto some cloth, or at least in their case, if they're well mannered. (They usually are.) That's why Eddy is first spitting in the glass and then pouring the contents on the ground. Everybody thinks that it's spit and that it's super gros, but actually it's the purest water you can get and all wind and brass instrument have it.

@@aiilbug1948 seriously? That's such a luxury. In my (and I'm sure most) marching bands, the percussionists are always the first to arrive and the last to leave. It's even worse if you're in the front ensemble and have to set up, tear down, load, unload, and move all your giant instruments around every single day. Having the woodwinds (and really all winds, for that matter) help the percussionists really is a great idea, and I wish more programs would set that practice as the standard.

When the pianist realizes they can’t be Ling Ling and have to settle as a high school choir accompanimeist
@swankeepers
@swankeepers 2 жыл бұрын
That does sting a little, as it is so true (ssooo many years of accompanying high school choirs, playing at liturgies, and community theatre troupes). Somehow reminds me of an interview given by Condoleeza Rice (a classically-trained pianist) when asked why she went into politics. "I realized I would never headline a concert hall, so it was either this or spend my life listening to students butcher the 'Fur Elise'."

Harp: "Is there enough food in the kitchen for me to eat too?" (only if the community orchestra has 'extra' funding) "I'll wait til everyone is half done eating (waiting until after intermission to play) then bring me an entire cheesecake (lots of arpeggios)." Love this skit TwoSet. Well done!!

How these portray musicians: First violin- Carries the entire orchestra and has the most interesting part 2nd violin- Can’t play in high positions Viola- Always falls behind and gets lost Cello- Plays confidently and boldly Bass- Plays the same things as cello Flute- Thinks they’re above the others Piccolo- Never plays Oboe- Plays as told Bassoon- Can never be heard Brass- Always plays too loudly Tuba- Tries to sound like the rest of the brass section but still stands out Piano- Sounds nice but is only acknowledged for helping other musicians shine Voice- Self entitled drama queen

Perfectly done! This reminded me of a time I was at a string quartet concert. After a fairly lengthy tuning session on stage, the violist slid her chair forward, only to have it emit a loud, slightly flat A. The whole audience laughed.
