Mom here! Step-mom just called to speak to my son and I hung up the call. Dad sent me a message saying that he was on the line also and that he would like to speak to my son. I already told Dad to stop putting that woman on the phone. If he wants to speak to my son he can call without her on the line also. There isn't enough context, but from the words used in saying "that woman", it seems the mother is being high conflict. What does the relationship with the son and stepmother look like? Is it healthy? If it is, then why hinder that relationship? What would the son like? More people to love and support a child is the healthier choice. It seems as though there is some unresolved feelings that need to be worked on.

Mom is way out of line UNLESS this step mom is toxic. So just because she still had unresolved issues with the new marriage or old husband she's going to spew her toxicity onto the relationship her son has with his father and his wife. Grow up!

I think the stepmom and father should respect the mother’s wishes. Not enough context here but if the mother is genuinely concerned about something with the stepmom then it should be respected. Things are way out of control nowadays and you cannot trust a lot of people. So given the few information I have I side with the mom this time, I think dad and stepmom should grow up and respect a simple wish as to only call (dad) his son.

Not sure why mom doesn’t want stepmom calling since she doesn’t say. However, that being said, mom needs to summon her inner Taylor Swift and calm down. The more people who love on your kid - the better. Children who have a team, a village of adults cheering them on, caring about them, loving on them - have a better chance for success and security in life. Do better Mom. For your son.
