Bernado hits the nail on the head. Just like a tiny ant toiling away on an anthill, we each have a role to play in the drama of life. Often without realizing it, we mistakenly view ourselves as separate egos with free will, striving to achieve set goals in the hope that they will bring us happiness. This misconception is a source of much suffering in the world. Bernado suggests a different approach: allowing nature to work through us, much like it does for the ant, and simply observing as events unfold. Our only task is to keep our egos in check and be mindful of our actions. This concept can be experienced and understood through experimentation. Rather than overthinking decisions, we should open ourselves up to nature's influence. In doing so, we become instruments serving a higher purpose, even if that purpose remains hidden from us. I think this is what Rupert is talking about towards the end of this clip.

Discerning what is Ego and Not Ego - - Can come about if you have struggled with an intense personal problem, (of any kind), and have reached an absolute impasse. No amount of analysis, no amount of trying, no amount of worry or fretting, no amount of excuses or plans for the future, no trickery or cleverness, no anger or frustration, no self subjugation or self pity, no pleasure seeking or escapism - - - none of these psychological states provide any solutions. You've tried them all and you give up. Completely. With no ulterior motive. This is not a suicidal state of mind. But rather the dissolving of the ego and it's machinations. It is now, with your mind placid, that your own brain can reveal meanings you have never seen before. Meanings that can evoke the words ‘Yes, wow, that is absolutely True’ Because these meanings appear to come from nowhere, they are often ascribed as the ‘word of God’. You somehow feel you have grasped the totality of the situation. This can create a feeling of surrender. (Which is not normal for western man). From this - - if you have the good fortune for it to happen to you - - You can discover that - - One has to be in a state of constantly ‘giving up’. This translates into Krishnamurti's statement - ‘Die to every moment’
