The Philadelphia Eagles and Jalen Hurts have agreed to a 5-year, $255 million contract extension with $179 million guaranteed. After this news came out, it was reported that the Baltimore Ravens have offered Lamar Jackson up to $200 million in guaranteed money during their contract talks. Lamar is not going to get the money he’s asking for from the Ravens. It’s just that simple.

If Lamar had an agent, he might have had signed an extension already after the MVP season and by now he could be negotiating a 2nd extension in 2023/24. He might've made upward of 200 Million easily that way. It's unfortunate. If it's about black representation, then there are a lot of black agents and agencies, too. If it's about the premium, he should just see it as an investment. 3% is not that much considering the many million dollars he could make off of the agent's work.

This whole Lamar contract situation is all Lamar’s fault. Only a fool represents himself in situations like this. Lamar would have had a lucrative deal by now if he had a good agent.

Shannon is 100 percent correct. These big deals don't just happen. Hurts' agent didn't walk in and say, this is what we want, and the Eagles said OK ... or vice versa. Hurts' agent and the team have been working on this deal for months. Lamar had a couple offers, turned them down and I am will to bet hasn't done any negotiating what-so-ever. Thus, Hurts has a deal and Lamar is wondering, "Where's mine?" Also, don't sell an agent short when it comes to the contract language. If you have ever tried to read just a standard contract (not even a professional sports contract), the wording is ridiculous. If you don't know what you're doing ... you could find out you lose money for something you didn't even know was there. And if you try to sue and say you didn't understand the language, it isn't going to matter because the judge is going to tell you that you should have consulted a lawyer (or, in this case, agent).

Why worry about Lamar? It’s his fault he hasn’t got a deal, he turned down deals wanting more and refuses to get an agent, I don’t feel bad for him whatsoever

The Ravens did come to Lamar earlier, they wanted to talk contract two years ago. Lamar didn't want to talk 2 years ago, or 1 year ago. That's on him.

Unc called it a long time ago. He said Lamar was going to hear things from Ravens management that he'll take personally. So, Lamar the QB couldn't separate from Lamar the agent.

They’re not gonna let Lamar be the first. If he signs a 200m fully guaranteed contract w out an agent everyone else will say what’s the point of an agent and do the same.
