The panel is so confusing on this topic - Hurts and the Eagles were realistic and worked together and the panel gives a high five. Lamar's expectations are unknown, to be fair, but seem to be unrealistic and they bash the Ravens, who seem to want to compromise and get a deal done...very confusing

The script is what it is. I will say this though, this is the end of his 3rd season. The Ravens should have locked up Lamar at the end of his third season. It would have happened if Lamar had an agent, but at this point Baltimore waited too long.

I agree that a deal should have been done, but given that Lamar has freestyled his way through the negotiations without a tried and true agent, I can't say it's all on the Ravens. I'd love to see them work it out....but the reality is, when he (and mom) decided to be his own representative, talks were always going to be difficult...no matter which pro year he was in

No two deals are the same. Apply that same principle to players, teams and situations. Ravens immediately signaled to Lamar "we would love to have you, but..." and that was 2 years ago when Lamar became eligible for an extension. Bottom line: Ravens never wanted Lamar unconditionally, and Lamar should've known better.

Also Wentz is very talented but makes bad decisions in crucial moments, the Eagles did win a Super Bowl that season because of what he did in the first 14 games. He missed the last two i believe, don't make it seem like he was Brock Osweiler on the field. There was a point where people said he was a much better QB than Dak.

I don’t know if it’s that simple yes the ravens should have a hard line on what they are willing to pay but they also should have given him a contract when they really had leverage two years ago now QBs are getting almost 200 million guaranteed and another guy got 230. I may not know anything about the intricacies of NFL contracts. If the salary cap was 224.8 million last year and one player is nearly a quarter of it short term. Is that a good thing? I understand that not everyone is paid this way. If I am right, what is Shady talking about?

The big thing with the Hurts deal is most of the money is probably going to him in 25-28, so the championship window is probably open another 2 years...After that the cap could possibly rise too

It's funny how shady is saying that this is how two sides come together and compromise to get a deal done when he was the one saying Lamar should get every dollar he can. A report came out saying Lamar was offered $200m guaranteed and he turned that down. So Lamar is the one that's not compromising by the looks of it.

Because the Cap goes up 10-15 million every year, there was a point where Brady was making 14 million a year with multiple Super Bowl wins, the number will keep going up. Also Hurts makes on average 35 mil a year, 51 is if he gets every incentive possible. Technically Mahomes makes more now.

Jalen is a solid QB, solid player, solid leader. I don’t believe anyone deserves the amount of money athletes or celebrities make, however it is nice to see him make some money and know the eagles will be exciting to watch for at least the next 5 years.

If millions of people were willing to pay hundreds of dollars to watch a guy fix a toilet, plumbers would make that much money too. It's just the way the market works, these celebrities and athletes generate billions of dollars in revenue for tv execs, team owners, movie studios etc. And by doing so they generate a large amount of tax revenue and jobs.

@@newagain9964 The issue is this caused other leagues to do lockouts. If enough players decide " Well this guy is getting massively paid I want in too. " the owners could potentially decide not to pay. I'm not defending the billionaires I'm citing historical precedence in prior lockouts.

Rick's distrust and suspicion of Jalen Hurts couldn't be any clearer. Hurts takes the Eagles to a superbowl and performs amazingly in the biggest game of his career. And Rick is still mired in the distrust, the pigeon holing, the uncertainty of, "can Hurts really get it done." So Rick can see and imagine eternal and infinite impossibilities for Hurts, rather than possibilities aeb what Hurts just did - take the Eagles to a Superbowl. Shame.

Hurts got paid for what he did and what he could potentially do in the future. That's what Ric is saying. Now he got the 💰 he can't do what Zeke did and regress or like many other QBS who got paid and NEVER sniffed a superbowl again. It wasn't hard to understand what he was talking about.

This is great news for the rest of NFC easst division and other NFC teams. Way overpaying for QB will hamstring them at many other positions and cost a lot in depth. Patrick Mahomes is the only recent QB to sign team friendly deal, Tom Brady doesnt count because majority of Bradys contracts very very illegal his entire career

Mahomes deal wasn’t friendly at the time. It has become somewhat friendly over time, but just because it’s so long term and consistent that you can plan around it long term, not because he took a pay cut

@@airgasmYT wrong. Mahones guaranteed money is huge difference from other top QB contracts, a lot more flexible to restructutre withiut creating huge cap hit in any year. Hurts deal is much worse than Dak Prescott ,Kyler Murray, Matt Stafford deals, only DeShaun Watson and Aarron Rodgers have worse deals ghan Hurts. His agent hosed the Eagles badly no way to sugarcoat it

This was all strategically done. They acquire OBJ to keep LJ close by then all of a sudden, Jalen Hurts signs for a pretty healthy contract but the guaranteed money is less than LJ’s class of QBs. Jalen has already gone to a Super Bowl so it leaves LJ with less wiggle room to talk higher numbers 🤔

The NFL owners have controlled this situation, brilliantly. They got Jalen to sign first to say the market. That's going to control Joe Burroughs market because can you really say Joe is better than Jalen at this point.? Justin Herbert for sure isn't in this conversation so he can't get more than Jaden. And Lamar and Jalen are interchangeable One has an MVP one was in the super bowl if you put Jalen on the Ravens what does that look like I will argue not as good as Lamar. Jalen hurstdale set the bar for this offseason
