Dolly is the first sheep that was developed by the technique of cloning. The sheep were developed from the diploid body cell. The somatic cell from the udder of the mother sheep was taken and the nucleus was injected into the enucleated egg cell which was cultured and transferred into the surrogate mother. This method is known as nuclear transfer. The sheep Dolly was identical in the characters with the mother who donated the diploid nucleus from the body cell.

Asexual reproduction is a type of reproduction in which single parent is involved. ... The offspring which is produced by this type of asexual reproduction is genetically same and identical to the parent cell. They are exact copies of the parent cell and thus, the offspring is called as a clone.

Mam can u explain why it is asexual reproduction
@sriservotechpackingmachine5964
@sriservotechpackingmachine5964 4 жыл бұрын
How you can that is Asexual reproduction , it is sexual reproduction because Asexual reproduction means the offspring must produced from only one parent and also it has the character of only one mother, but here Dolly has both sheep character, so it is sexual reproduction

But the nucleus was only taken from one sheep, which has chromosomes because of which it got characteristic
@kdrama_edits3221
@kdrama_edits3221 3 жыл бұрын
No.. It has had characteristics of only 1st sheep which was Finn dorsett sheep they were exactly identical...since its nucleus was taken which has Dna or chromosomes since it received dna of Only the 1st sheep they looked exactly alike and hence this is asexual reproduction

Cloning is an asexual type of reproduction as it doesn't involve two haploid cells.
