I can attest to the hair issue. Out almost fifteen years and I still keep my hair short. I can not stand having long hair anymore. Just like him I want to grow it out but it gets to the point where it has got to go.

I loved the Drew Carey Show and his “Dilbert” look. I have an enduring memory of Diedrich Bader and Ryan Stiles character’s browsing in Drew’s kitchen as if it was a supermarket. And if someone over does the make-up then they’ve done a Mimi (Kath Kinney). A shout out to Craig Ferguson and Christa Miller also.

As a former contestant on TPIR, he is one of the most genuinely nice and warm people you could hope to meet. Even if it may not always show on camera, he is a host who is genuinely excited to see people win and is there to make sure the audience is comfortable, happy, and laughing. No ego there at all.

Well...he's on TV EVERY WEEKDAY (that's Monday through Friday, for our foreign viewers), with re-runs on Saturday evening. So, yeah...sure...blink, and you'll miss him.

There are some things that I still "use" from the USAF. Still make hospital corners, when I make the bed, which is most days. Shirts all face the same way as do the pants I hang up. I now have the haircut my FIRST SGT wanted me to have, and which I fought nearly every month for 36 months. It's not my choice, mother nature did all the hard work. I'm only in contact with one person from those years, 45 years ago! Not sure if I had the chance I would do it again, but the GI Bill helped me through college and the rest is now history! Drew Carey, Semper Fi!

That Marine Corps Reserve haircut looks longer than any Army haircut I saw in my time in the service (1968-70). Regulation maximum length was 1” on top and nearly down to the scalp on the sides.

My dad kind of food the exact opposite - for it of the reserves and didn't bother shaving his facial hair for a bit... Which turned into several decades 😂 Not even my mom has seen him without full facial hair. Who knows what his chin looks like 🤣

By complete happenstance, discovered my BN XO (A Major) moonlighting standup at a small comedy club when I was an E-6. And he was good. Blew my mind to see this inflexible SOB up there killing it. Once the word got out around the battalion, instead making him quit his bit, the BC (Lite Colonel) put out an unofficial-but-you-know-it's-official edict that none of us were allowed to see his act. Because...you know...we're assholes. And we travel in large asshole packs.

That's the exact same thing that happened to Bob Ross. He never liked that hair style but it was cheap and easy to maintain while he was poor, until it became his trademark and then he was stuck with it. I sometimes wonder if Bob let his hair down for a few months if he wasn't taping or teaching (though I doubt it)

Ahhh the BCGs... I got stuck with those at basic. Told me I need glasses yet I could read tiny text and had no issues with things far away. It improved vision was almost imperceptible. I hated those things. I went to basic training Fort Knox at 34 years old and had researched what to expect at BT. I was ready for about 90% of what was headed my way. I was kicking ass and ready for more when we hit the range for the first time. It was slightly raining here and there when I went prone and fired the M16 for the first time. Damn BCGs kept moving or had me looking through the brim at times. Ok. Live range. Sight picture looked good. Safety off. POP. WTF. Water mixed with CLP is now dripping all down my face. I'm now viewing the world through funhouse mirrors and it's just smearing around trying to clean it all off. Ok.. Found 1% of that missing 10%. Never saw that coming...

In an old Howard stern interview, Drew Carey said he actually had LASIK surgery and doesn’t need to wear glasses anymore. His vision was perfect. But people were so used to his look that he couldn’t change it up, so he’s been wearing glasses with fake lenses for years.

I still remember the first time I saw Drew Carey do standup on TV(maybe one of those HBO Annual Young Comedians Specials?), he comes out and immediately goes, "Yeah... I know what the fuck I look like!" and then proceeds to do a few mins of self-deprecating lines like, "I look like that guy they showed you in those 1950's Social Studies films where the narrator's saying, 'Stay away from THIS MAN!" and "I look like the guy on one of the ads in the back of an old magazine for X-Ray Specs!" I was like 10 at the time. To this day, if my wife and I are walking around outside somewhere and it gets really cold or starts pouring or something, I'll playfully elbow her and go, "Well, at least it's not snowing! _(Pokey-poke-poke!)_"
