Wonderful. I’m a former Heroin addict and drug user that is now in college going for my masters. I’m learning piano and Yiddish. The mind is an awesome organ.

What kind of tests/scans are there if you want to see if you've damaged your brain with alcohol? I would like to get myself checked but I don't even know where to begin since I don't even know what the tests/scans are called...
@sunnysmiles82113 жыл бұрын
Maybe get a CT scan. Make an appointment with a neurologist. Also go to your primary care doctor and get standard blood work done to check your organs.

ive been clean over 3 years and my brain's still fucked. Though I was on a low dose of methadone until a year ago which probably impedes healing.

if a baby is born to a couple that drink and do drugs then the baby has a Drug addiction when born and the mother puts a small amount of drugs in the baby bottle so the child will sleep all night, than the couple takes the child to partys with a lot of drugs gets the child high to, long story short, this was what happen to my Husban by his mother and father, as a adult as much as he try to stop from drugs he would for awhile, went to a lot of rehab and only got worst, at the age of 42 he over Dosed and died. so I know that it can depend on how instilled Drugs and drinking are on someone, The Babys born with these addictions and grow up with it, those are the ones that don't make it so very sad to do this to a child!

Does a daily low dose of Adderall (5mg) damage the brain?
@cb902222 жыл бұрын
Yes and the chemical make up is the exact same thing as cocaine

Can you repair the damaged brain cells? I ask because my brother used drugs and i feel like hes not all there anymore he cant processs things and under stress he gets nervous and starts to kinda ramble. Im seaching alot here but theres mot much videos on the permanent after effects of using. Im hopefull with maybe vitamins supplements that he could restore his brain function 😢
@JustAskGOD2 күн бұрын
This depends on the type of substances, duration including at what age your brother started, route of use; few other factors. Substance use can cause long term effects that can not be repaired in the brain. Then there is hope as well as the brain can start to require itself as the brain is a machine we do not fully understand. There are often co-occurring disorders(mental health) which may be the result of your brother acting this way as well. I’m talking from experience in addiction, as a licensed chemical dependency counselor now. This is hard on you and him. Praying there is some help and seems he has a concerned sister who is willing to be there for him through this.

That's natural dehydration what's caused by excessive use of alcohol that's why people drink a lot of water following day after alcohol or drugs use or abuse and it takes time to get water and liquid's back to body.

MrNecryptic An addict will never truly be “normal?” This is absolutely false. You have no basis to this claim and this cannot apply to every drug or alcohol abuser. I hope an addict doesn’t come on KZfaq and read that. There is hope.
