He does but you can tell he's not Dutch. Ten Hag's biggest criticism isn't that he rotates as much. Frankly we are glad he doesn't rotate as much because last season it meant we would see players like Klaiber and Labyad been given minutes, both who played for him when he was at FC Utrecht but in the eyes of the supporters just aren't good enough to play for Ajax. Instead of players who came from the youth academy. Ten Hag is now starting to manage like Pep when he was at Barcelona. You know which players you're gonna see and only the players that are deemed good enough will get their chance. As it was with Dest, Mazroui, Gravenberch and now Timber. As for the argument of not rotating too much, all you gotta look at is PSV thisseason who have done just that. A lot of injured players, an insecure team and a team that struggles to beat the smaller teams home and away. Where as with Ajax you know like 10/11 players that will start each game and everyone knows what their place is. Just as it was the case with Barcalona's Pep

I think the entire, really nice, discussion misses one essential point. The Ajax management. The real strength of Ajax are CEO Edwin van der Sar and technical director Marc Overmars. Van der Sar en Overmars have ensured solid financial and technical policy. They've been daring with financial choices, transfers and have enabled Ajax' coaches to play like they want to because they can get the right players. For all the excellence on the pitch: the true strength is the solid foundation that Van der Sar and Overmars have built in Amsterdam. Having said that; Erik ten Hag is an excellent coach. He's a little too stubborn sometimes perhaps, sticking to experiments that don't work a little too long maybe. That's his only weakness though. He's been excellent in every other way.

I missed one big part when discussing the 2018/19 season, the players they signed. they signed Dusan Tadic to play left winger or striker, he has played 165 games since joining Ajax, and scored 82 and assisted 81 times, ridicilous numbers. But was most important because he became the leader of the team, the captain that is an example for all the new youth players. And they also got Daley Blind from Manchester United, he is also a leader of the team, and very important and center back and left back. Those experienced players where what was missing in 2018, with them we got the perfect mix of talent and experience to get to that semifinal. Secondly, I think Marc's critic of Ten Hag not rotating is a little too harsh. Ten Hag does tend to stick to players that are out of form or just not good enought too long, he is probably too loyal to them. But more rotation would disturb the process and flow we are in, it will disturb the patterns and habits that this team has on the pitch. Our biggest rival is PSV Eindhoven, and they have a coach (Roger Smith) who does rotate players a lot. It is a disaster. Players have no real patterns and habits on the pitch, they don't really "feel" another in the field. Plus it affects their fitness most of them have trouble playing 90 minutes 3 times a week, they have a lot of injuries etc. I personally rate Ten Hag in the top 5 coaches we have ever had, with Rinus Michels, Stefan Kovacs, Johan Cruijff en Louis van Gaal. I think we will get considerably worse when he goes, don't really see a coach who has the same skills and is willing to come to Ajax. Arne Slot could have done it, but going from the ultimate rival Feyenoord to Ajax is almost impossible.

Neigelsman would have been a perfect fit as well but he already got the Bayern job. Ten Hag is the best coach out there that's not on a billionaire club already, you guys are blessed with him, reclaiming the respect that Ajax always had.

The demolition of Dortmund at the Amsterdam ArenA was absolutely reminiscent of the peak van Gaal years in the mid 1990s, it was so controlled and meticulous. I personally liked Ronald Koeman's Ajax too though they had a very short peak, he didn't build something durable. As for the the person talking about Neres, well he doesn't exactly make a strong case for being used more when he's given minutes. He's been at the club nearly 5 years now and mostly stagnated. Antony who arrived after him is already impressing more.

The thing about sticking with Dolberg as a weakness it was also kind of a strength. He doesn't easily give up on players especially when he knows there is potential there, which Dolberg proved is still there at the Euro's. Plus he was his way of rotating which is more necessary in attack then defense. I would say another maybe weakness is sometimes getting players he likes for depth who are actually unnecessary, however he gets them as he worked with them before. Labyad and Klaiber at Ajax. Not that they cost much.

But this really shows that Man Utd are making big changes behind the scenes, had Marc known the current project behind this Man Utd backroom clear out, he definitely would have said ten hag would be in Manchester in August 2022

The change in recruitment hasn't really been highlighted in the video, which is a shame, because the addition of Tadic and Blind in the summer of 2018, and consistent dealings after that, hitting the mark far more often than not, has also really helped Ajax. And the major player there is Overmars. His importance can't be highlighted enough too. It's the combination of Ten Hag, Overmars and Van der Sar that has led to this (hopefully) golden era

Ajax already plays the same system for fifty years: total football: play pressure to win ball possession, frequently change positions, players being able to take over each other's position during the game. The youth get trained in that system in the academy, and external players and trainers are selected to fit in it as well (Ajax is no place for a Ronaldo). So Ten Hag did not bring or create the system, but he is an exceptionally good fit. On top of that he is very much aware of the limitations of the players and himself, and is honest and open about it. This keeps the team realistic, down to earth and on their toes. In the same vein Ten Hag is not a good fit for many other clubs. Clubs with superstars, inflated egos in the board and too much commercial distractions can very easily become a trap for a person like Ten Hag. Further, other clubs need to play that same Ajax system (so like Barcelona, not MU). Successful players at Ajax often fail at other clubs, same can happen to the trainer.

The biggest difference this season is playing with inverted wingbacks. Both Mazraoui and Blind are capable of playing on the midfield, so as they come inside and cover the midfield in the attacking fase, Gravenberch and Berghuis can advance forward and support our attackers. In the buildup, Anthony and Mazraoui work exceptionally well together, their stats are incredible and Ajax might have the best performing right side couple in Europe at the moment.

Finally someone who actually knows Ten Hag. Everyone and their mum knows Ten Hag tactically is an amazing coach. But that doesn't ensure success. As the dude said, Ten Hag is not a charismatic guy. The media isn't really kind to those characters especially when they're not successful. He doesn't speak English well so I don't know if he'd be very successful at an international club. Not even mentioning the egos he'll have to deal with, at Ajax he is above everyone in the team and everyone knows that, that's not the case at many major clubs.

So Solskjær has made to protect his players and build up team moral. So with this in mind, he has done xactly what he camw to do in Manu, now I want to see how Solskjær will be doing this year in Champions League, and I believe! That said, never say never th Manu will not do that with Ten Haag, since they got team moral and team to handle the press better, which means in that sence or as long as stay so, it is perfect time for Manu to get him if they really wanted.

It is will be interesting to see how he copes with the english press as it is not his first language, is up against some really good managers like Conte, Guardiola and Klopp and he has no experience of playing or managing in england so it might be a cultural shock (like the games during the Christmas-New Year period) .

No, he isn't. Amorim is a very unidimensional manager who only knows how to play boring, defensive football. He gets by in the Portuguese League, but when the level of competition increases, he is a terrible coach.

All in all a good representation, but you can clearly see that there is some depth and accuracy missing. Don't want to go much into detail, but you missed the boat with the tactical analysis. The biggest difference is not that they have switched attacking from the centre to the wings. Although Alvarez is not the new Pirlo, the fullbacks (Mazraoui and Blind) are playing in the midfield in the first phase of attacking, which compensate for Alvarez lack of creativity. They have just expanded the patterns in which they can create chances. In 18/19 Ajax was known for the quick combinations in very tight spaces. The biggest difference is that this team is more balanced and experienced. There are no big superstars like De Ligt, Frenkie or Ziyech (maybe Antony), but it is more a collectively strong team. The issue with Ten Hag is not that he does not rotates that much. If a player proves himself he will get the chance. Schuurs got swapped for Timber, Klaassen for Berghuis etc. The main weakness of Ten Hag is his ability to change tactics during the game. The substitutions are predictable, no matter what the score is. Neres for Antony, Klaassen for Berghuis. In the beginning there were matches that he would not even substitute, even when the team was losing. Also Kudus was injured almost all of last season, soo it was actually not possible to prepare him for the games against AS Roma. Ajax lost because the second goalkeeper (Scherpen) made a major mistake. Ten Hag isn't to blame for that. Also Ajax did not granted the Championship during the Covid season. There was no winner chosen in that season.

Ten Hag should absolutely see out his contract with Ajax until 2023, then decide what to do. If he decides to break his contract he needs to remember what happened to Ronald Koeman when he did this recently or Peter Bosz at Ajax a few years ago. Bosz was doing a fine job at Ajax but decided to leave after just one season. He got sacked within 6 months after overseeing Dortmund's worst Champions League campaign ever. Did a bit better at Leverkusen but even there it didn't end well. His current Lyon team is nowhere near the level he could have reached with Ajax, so since leaving the Netherlands he's been worse off with the teams he's taken on. Ten Hag similarly risks leaving the relatively safe and comfortable setup of Ajax for a very unstable destination. When you hear names like Newcastle, Tottenham, Manchester United and Barcelona being mentioned as destinations for him... well they are all in a very chaotic state at the moment while Ajax have a very good, functioning squad and setup.

Ajax is doing well despite having far less money than their european competitors. If Ajax reaches the semifinal they get like four million dollars of television money. If PSG reaches the semifinal they get 90 million dollars. And thats just one year, Ajax will never be able to make the step to being financially on the same level as the big teams no matter how well they play and all is due to the uefa policies.

Yup, the market share factor in the distribution of UEFA money is only there to keep the big clubs and top 4 leagues happy. This is all about holding back the Super League, but it is at the expense of true and fair competition.
