Very nice karts! I live in Spokane. I am in the idea stage. Still gathering parts and stuff. Got an engine, steel for frame, steering wheel and a lot of enthusiasm. I also know a few roads that I can do a run like this, between wheatfields 5 miles of flat straight road. OH I know some places to dirt road run, they allow ATVs on road in that county.🤷♂

Build it, once you get started it a lot of fun. Your building a toy that you can club into and ride.

@@TheJunkHunter I built a mini-boat already. It was a blast to build! I will be using skills I learned in that build in this one for sure. This has less chance of drowning but goes a lot faster. I can't wai!t I still need the wheels, axles and other odds and ends.

As I recall from that previous video the average speed indicated on the phone was about 54mph. The speed indicated here was slightly slower at 52. Is there any way to find an airport with a long taxi way that you can use to really go flat out? You might also set up a time trap as gauges are not normally that accurate. All in all a good video. By the way , what does the Blue (Talbot Lago?) weigh?

Well the raw footage I posted before showed the entire run which is about 45-60 seconds long each way. For this event it’s clocking what your speed is at 30 seconds. Basically you have 30 seconds to go as fast as you can do its a lot to do with acceleration and gearing more then “how fast” you can go. And since it’s timed it would be hard to set up a speed trap at the 30second mark. Logistically and financially it’s just way easier to use a phone app;)

Oh and both cars weigh around 240-250 depending on how much fuel they carry

Hi, I looked back at your videos looking for how you sprung your rear suspension, couldn’t find anything. I just learned about cyclekarts a few months ago and planning my build. If you can point my to your video that talks about that, if you have one, please do. If not, just a simple explanation would help. Thanks. RustySteve

In the “ cycle kart mystery solved” I show some still photos of the kart before the body is on. It’s a triangulated 4 link push rod suspension with horizontally mounted shocks ( shocks are rears from a moped )

I used a pretty basic app called “ smart dash cam” . I search “ speedometer in camera” and got a bunch to chose from. I use apple but I am sure there are just as many for non apple

Track Addict Pro is what I use for getting a ‘souvenir video’ for my early HPDE students (if they are calm and well-behaved enough). Can get a semblance of speed and g-forces as well.
