What makes Dennis legendary is not just his athletic ability and rebounding but his durability and most of all ...his Mental ability and basketball I.Q. This guy out smarted and therefore outplayed the greatest to ever play the game. From Shaq to Karl Malone...he got at you and often won those rebounding and mental battles. I'm going say this. Rodman was the only one in all NBA history to constantly stop Shaq.

His basketball IQ was off the charts, he learned the triangle offense easier than most, and executed it brilliantly, still getting rebounding position. He would get 24 rebounds per game in this era.

Dennis Rodman is, more than any player in the history of the NBA, unique. There is no one you can really compare him to in this era or any other. One of a kind and a true great.

The bulls offense improved tremendously when they added Rodman as he moved the ball beautifully and he fired outlet passes quickly after defensive rebounds.

I'm a Pistons fan and I watch Drummond get 14-16 rebounds a season, I can say Rodman would get 19.6

Countless HS and college coaches would show films of Rodman to demonstrate to their players that boxing out and determination could beat height in getting rebounds all day long.

Absolute force of nature. I watched games he played even after Bulls days. Never for his scoring, but his Rebounding, Defensive and sheer determination and hustle. Truly one of a kind. One of my personal favorites. Second best rebounder in league history after Wilt Chamberlain and greatest all around defender couse, not only he could defend all five positions, but he could shoot down almost anyone doing it.

Pistons had two of the greatest rebounding and defense monsters ever played. Dennis Rodman and Ben Wallace.

Rodman is the best individual defender I've ever seen! He literally could guard 1-5 and did it consistently! He is also the best rebounder I've ever seen! Thank you for mentioning the 60s-70s era. They took/missed way more shots back then thus inflated rebounding numbers. Guys averaged 20+ rebounds per game but those numbers are skewed. Rodman was so athletic that if he played back then, he might have averaged 25-30 rebounds per game! Rodman would be an asset in any era. But today's game, with the emphasis on stretch 4s/5s I'm not sure teams would utilize a player like Rodman? Me personally, I'd take him on my team any day, any era. His defense and rebounding were AMAZING! Let's not forget about his hustle and heart! Dude left it all on the floor, night in and night out! Personally I think Rodman was the perfect teammate if you have other superstars. He didn't care about scoring but could if he wanted to. He was happy to do the dirty work, get an offensive board and kick it back out so his teammates could score the points. Rodman was and always will be one of my favorite players ever! If you didn't see him play, do yourself a favor and pull up some highlights!

Rodman made a deal with the devil 😂 he grew 6 inches after high school and became one of the all time great athletes. Made his debut at 25 because of his late growth spurt and he could abuse his body with drugs and alcohol for 4/5 days a week and still dominate on match days. The guy was an athletic freak. If a player today partied like he did they'd be out of the NBA in a year.

Good video...I grew up in Chicago and loved Rodman when he played for the bulls. He could be annoying at times to watch because of all the antics, but he got into the other teams heads and was always full of energy on the court.

One of my favorite players ever. A consummate team player who was willing to do the tough, dirty work for his team to win especially when it comes to defense and rebounding. He had an underrated basketball IQ which not only encompasses the technical aspects of the game but even to the point of exploiting the psychological vulnerabilities of the other team. He got into the heads of so many opponents with his antics that he effectively took them out of their game in most cases.

Despite the numbers, Rodman was actually a decent free-throw shooter... when he tried. As someone who grew up watching him, most of the time he would walk away from the shot before it had left his hand. But there were times in crucial games where he would swish important free throws. I saw it often. And he could hit threes when he tried too.

Most underrated aspect of is Genius: is knowledge of the game, not verifiable in the only stats, the way he understood the triangle and other tactical aspect of other coaches he played for is real high basketball I.Q.

Great analysis. To tie all of your stats on Rodman's numbers against team rebounds per game, I think it would have been great to rank Rodman against the others in terms of percentage of team rebounds per game (all NBA that season)... seems like that's the fairest stat to compare.

It's amazing how he out rebounded centers who were a lot taller than him!!! He was the real round mound of rebound and not CHARLES BARKLEY like everyone thought he was back in the 90's!!! I must admit I wasn't a big fan of RODMAN until he join the BULLS!!! I didn't like him with the DETROIT PISTONS because of his pesky irritating style of defense!!! Another great video! Rodman was an incredible defensive player. Great example was frustrating Malone during finals. Great passer. Master of the multiple taps to get rebounds that seemed out of his range or from bigger men. Green is playing in a time without dominant big man that play down low. The game is also a lot less physical. I get the comparison but it's not even close. He was the ultimate role player and his impact on the game without scoring may never be duplicated. His energy, IQ, and toughness made him a star. Glad he got into the HoF, he deserved it.

Dennis Rodman is the epitome of someone who could affect a game without scoring. There are players now that you can compare to players from the past. LeBron passes like Magic, Zion is built like Charles Barkley, watching Donovan Mitchell at his best is like watching a young Dwyane Wade..... but there’s no way in hell that we’ll ever see someone like Rodman again.

Crazy part was, during the games you don't even realize he got that many boards until you see the box score. He does it during the flow of the game. There was so many games i watched that i didn't even notice he got that many until the game is over.

Aside from the obvious, he had another supreme skill, disrupting any opposing game plan.....Not easy to do while usually defending against the best on the floor.....
