Hyundai Genesis G80 | 100,000 Miles Later.. This quick look at the 2016 Hyundai Genesis or Genesis G80 as it was known after 2017, will be a unique one as this Genesis has done over 100,000 miles. As a previous owner of the Genesis G80, it was one of my most favorite cars I have ever driven. Now I want to see just how well it has held up and if it is on par with Lexus quality. Well I will tell you this, it beats out the Germans, now you will have to watch and see for yourself how it compares to a Lexus.

I actually bought this exact car from Cary imports and the reason the arm rests didn’t open automatically was because I found 2 pennies in each side where it opens and they operate just fine now. I’ve been enjoying it so far...

There are many people that still don't like to hear this but the South Koreans make really great automobiles . Hyundai and Kia have clawed and fought their way to the top with the best warranties and excellent quality. And that's the truth. They have beat other car companies at their own game offering tremendous value and great engineering. The people that engineer and build these cars love what they do. It shows.

My wife and I started with a 2012 Hyundai Genesis which we both liked a great deal. In Nov. 2017 we moved to a 2018 Genesis G80. OMG, I can't describe how much a LOVE this car. This car is every bit as fantastic as you are describing it! For me the car is as close to perfect as I could hope to find. The exterior styling is wonderful, the interior (especially the center stack) is what a luxury car should look like. If anyone is shopping for a new or used luxury car, drive this car because the value cannot be matched by any other car you might be considering! Thanks for the great review.

My day to day driving does not include open and winding roads were I could really enjoy the Stinger. This fellow is preaching to the choir in my case. I own a 2009 Genesis with the 4.6 liter V8 and love the car. 2009 was the first year they came out as a Hyundai luxury model and I had seen a few on the road and loved the look. When I took a test drive at the dealer I was sold after five minutes behind the wheel. I've driven it on several road trips----NY to North Carolina was the first----and it's a world class touring sedan. And like the man says in the video, it is under-appreciated, which also means you can get a used model at a very reasonable price.

Mine is 9 years old and has only 46,000 Kilometers (less than 29000 miles) and has been garaged for 99% of its life. I have to say, it has been amazing. Essentially zero problems, AND it looks like new! I have plenty of money for a new car, but I can't see any reason to trade this in. I have recently noticed that the rear windows stop about an inch or two before disappearing. I hardly ever use the electric windows, so I just noticed this. The heavy gauge Korean steel is awesome. Slam the door, it is in a whole different league from most cars. Whomp!

You have an excellent channel and I enjoy your content! In 2018 I bought a used 2015 G80, 6 cylinder AWD, luxury package, moon roof with 29K on it. It now has 79K, mostly highway during my tenure with this machine. It's a great car. A joy to drive. I've had a few problems with the electronics, the XM Sirius Radio and screen were replaced when a month after I bought it and again a couple of months ago. It was freezing and not allowing me to change channels. Luckily the extended warranty took care of this problem. Other than that, I've replaced the tires with Good Years, Replaced the driver visor, under the warranty. The car is in the shop now getting the rear rotors and brake pads replaced but after 79K, that's just fair wear and tear. They checked the front brakes and they are still fine. It's a wonderful car. I hope I can take mine to 200K! Keep up the great work on your channel.

Absolutely agree with the author. I LEASED a 2020 G80 5.0 AWD ULTIMATE model here in Canada just before the pandemic hit. I got one of the last V8 cars available. It is the same UYUNI WHITE (pearl white) colour as the car the author reviewed. I have been SO HAPPY with this car. My 5-year lease expires in about 9 months and unless something unforeseen happens, I plan to buy out the lease. The car only has 41,000 KM on it (25,000 MILES). It is comfortable, handles great and has all the power (420 HP) and luxury I need and want. Runs like a BEAR. I hope mine holds up as well as the 106,000 mile example in the video. Like the author said, GENESIS IS UNDERAPPRECIATED, but that is good for those of us who like quality AND VALUE. The new ones are getting a lot more expensive now...

I was pleasantly surprised to find it perfectly reliable to 100.000 miles with no issues at all. We added a 2007 spectra and it was just as good! I'm now driving a fully loaded 2017 Elantra, very nice, very comfortable, just hit 55.000 miles, no problems or issues at all. Still on the original tires and they still have decent tread left! You're absolutely spot on when you said it takes you down a few stress points when driving. The cabin is just so peaceful! A little more engine noise than I would expect, but for a car with 130k? I have no complaints. We have two kids, and one who can't keep his shoes off the back seat, so that's where the wear and tear is. Other than that, and a missing spring that doesnt keep the rear seat trunk access hole closed, you would think the car is 100k miles newer. Wouldnt mind adding a second one for a new daily.

Very timely. I bought a 2016 Genesis with ultimate package with 29k miles for $26k just three weeks ago. This car is described in this video. I look for excuses to drive it. It’s more comfortable than the best home leather furniture. It’s not hyperbole to say the car drives itself. The HUD is the best I have seen. Speed, nav, land keep, advanced cruise and situational awareness of other cars are all integrated into the HUD Everyone who has been skeptical converts after a single ride. This car will be one of those cars sold based on word of mouth. Also the Genesis Dealer network is only now building out. Once established it will make sense to advertise. I have owned them all. MB, Lincoln, Caddilac, Lexus, Audi and it’s Genesis for the win. I have HTRAC badge and I did add the G80 badging from Amazon. Sweet.

Sorry but the HUD is one of the worst. These cars are very nice but I drive cars for a living and the only manufacturers that have HUDs that don't give you a head ache when staring at it is the GM cars(surprising) and Mercedes. These have a bunch of light bleed all around.

Thanks so much my friend I'm really humbled by that and man ISF is a sick car pretty much impossible to come by haha. I actually don't think you will like the G70 as much, I had the Stinger and yes the G70 was better than the Stinger but I thought the G80 was even more superior than both. G80 uses a double wishbone front suspension similar to your ISF. You may also enjoy a CPO GSF more too and if you don't mind leasing the BMW 440i is incredible. Recently purchased the 2015 3.8T.... so far so good love it. Upgraded from my 2009 Sonata, which made me a fan of Hyundai. My first-time servicing the Sonata my mechanic literally told me this has the same engine as a Honda Accord, "you can go 250,000 miles on this thing without any issue". It's currently at a hundred and seventy-five thousand miles and running strong after a $700 service. My 2015 Genesis was a steal at $20K with under 49,000 miles. Most people think I paid 30k for it. I have a feeling after the 2021 Genesis people are going to start jumping on board. I really think if you're one of those don't make any conclusions until you've at least sat in one and driven one. Hey thanks for stopping by my friend. So I actually did drive a 2016 F sport GS350 with 20k miles and honestly I like the Genesis way more. The road noise in that is about the same, you have to step up to an LS to get better noise isolation. I know I am a little late, but I find myself at the same crossroads. 2016 Genesis or 2013-2015 GS350? I’ve always been a Lexus guy, but I’ve been seeing these genesis on the road looking good.

Sarat C I have a 2010 63k, 4.6 tech package. I love ❤️ it! I had a borla exhaust added shortly after I purchased, and the windows tinted. It still turns heads..

how do you take care of your car? besides the usual oil changes etc... like at 100,000 miles... what other (easy, dont break bank) things can you do for tune ups and maintenance?

I just purchased a 2015 Genesis from a major dealer where I live, and it is in impeccable condition, and it has 122,000+ miles on it, and the dealer provided me with a 100,000 mile major issue warranty. The only real issue I found on my car, was the drivers seat adjustment plastic wrap was broken, and it hangs loose, but does not interfere with the seat adjustment. Plus, I paid $16k before tax, tags, and title, which came out to about $18k to finance, and with no money down.

I held off on buying a new Lexus RX350 last year because I had read about the new Genesis GV80 suv that is being released this year. I wanted to find someone who had done a 100,000 mile review before proceeding with my purchase.... so thank you for this video! One question though.... do you recall the price tag on this used Genesis? I am curious about resale value on the brand as well.

I have one of these and love it. Wonder why they are coming up? Well Genesis designer is Bentley's former designer, Bmw's former drive train former engineer I believe and another former Lamborghini engineer are part of their team now.

Can any one say something about maintenance costs, brakes, oil change, repairs to mention but a few. Thanks in advance.

Not a lot to maintain and it’s RELIABLE. Oil change cost about 80 bucks or less

It's hyundai prices they aren't expensive to maintain, I work at a Hyundai dealership in Canada only time I see those at the service department are in for tire rotation lol

I own the same car and agree with your comments. This is a direct injection engine. Have the inlet valves been cleaned, and if not, is it still running well? Thanks.

I purchased a used 2017 G80 3.8 HTRAC without the sunroof for a good price and so far I love it. Haven’t driven it much with the whole COVID-19 but I can’t wait to get it out on the road some more. I wonder are there any features about the car that I’m unaware of yet?

Any new issues out there? I have a 2018 5.0 RWD w/20k miles. Fantastic car with plenty of power with no worries of "What will break next" which I often said to myself with my old 2015 E350. I have only seen (1) 5.0 in addition to mine in the Charlotte area. Very rare car, and with the V8 ousted for the 3.5T I believe it will possibly become a collector car.

Only "issue" I noticed and found others who reported online that the transmission has a wierd delay on changing from changing gears-------going about 40-50mph if I recall correctly. Pedal was about 3/4 of the way down. This is a rare occurance for me and ONLY happened like 4 times since driving the car for about 4 years....I noticed that it appears regardless of using any mode (normal, sport, eco).
