so true, one time when i was about 3 years old i was seeing how high i could get a measuring tape and it got about 5 feet before collapsing on my head. if i look closely, i can still see a tiny scar there.

though if you live on top of the mt. everest, it would be good for you to move your clock to compensate the height, just to be accurate with the time.

The time in your 'time zone' remains the same no matter how tall a building is. The people in the upper floors would experience sunrise and sunset at a different time than people on the ground, but they all still share the same "time zone".

BAI PATTU Yes, though theorically a tall enough building would experience the sunrise and set entirely different from the location of the base of the building, and therefore there could be timezones with height too.

+Fuckification Most time zones differ by 30 mins. People at the top of burj khalifa experience sunset 2 mins after people at the base. To experience the sunset 30 mins after the base the building would have to be 15 times its current height. It currently stands at 2722 ft. 15 times that would be 40,830 ft. Commercial airliners cruise at 36,000 ft. LOL

This was great. It went exactly where I wanted - to talk about space elevators and space cables. However, I think it missed with why it is impossible to achieve. As you reach the altitudes closer and closer to space, there are shear forces, which will tear apart the cable/elevator, no matter what the material. However, if ever were possible, a space cable or elevator, would have far more impact than depicted here, because you'd be able to build spcaecraft directly in space and therefore not need to launch them from the ground. Further, you'd be able to pump up unlimited fuel into space and to your huge spacecraft to facilitate game-changing space exploration missions, and orbital cities so it would truly mean the possibility of having colonies in space.

4:21 Fun fact: The ISS is so close to Earth that the astronauts inside are exposed to almost the same gravitational pull as we on Earth. They only float like in space because of the high orbiting speed which constantly sweeps away the floor below the astronauts while they are falling towards Earth.

Yeah, and the moon only stays up in the sky above us like it does for the same exact reason. It’s high orbiting speed keeps it from falling onto the Earth, and Earth’s gravity keeps it from floating away, just like how everything else that orbits something does.

As of now, it's possible to build for about 256 blocks verrically in a typical world. That doesn't solve the questions yet as they are measured in blocks. 1 block in Minecraft measures 10m × 10m. So 1 block has 10m width when seen as in 2D. Therefore, using simple math, 256 × 10m, it is currently possible to build 2,560m or 2.56km vertically.

Another problem would be electricity. If you send a grounded cable up in to a high enough altitude you will get a bolt of lightning come down it. Therefore if a structure reached high enough up in to the sky you would essentially ground the upper atmosphere.

Why would it? First all flat earthers believe earth is round. Just not a sphere. Also if you only need your body size to see two sunsets that proves that it doesn't need to be a globe. Two sun sets can be seen on a flat earth. It's due to perspective not curvature. This can be simulated on a flat surface

The moon spins too slowly for the centripetal forces to stabilise a tall tower - only once every 27.3 days, not once a day like the Earth. Question - how would changing winds (ie jet streams) and the forces they create impact a space elevator, given that it would be exposed to different wind velocities from its base at sea level to the top of the exosphere ?

the eiffel tower was nicknamed the 1000 feet tower before its construction because it's 1000 feet high without its antenna and you can reach terminal velocity if you jump from its top (some skydivers have already jumped from the Eiffel tower's top and everybody saw these image of an "ingenior" who tried to create a parachute in the early 1900's)
