It just amazed me that US Pres. Woodrow Wilson warned Britain and France NOT to do to Germany exactly what they did. He said that no one could live with such a one-sided, deliberately-harmful "Treaty", and that it practically guaranteed another was a couple decades down the road. Wilson was the only major Allied Power to refuse signing the treaty of versailles.
@Sp4wn82
@Sp4wn82 10 ай бұрын
Yeah, "Treaty" that term requires a mutual agreement on conditions to mutual gain. That was a dictation and nothing more. Wilson's peace plan might've been more kind to Germany and it was just because of the Wilson Plan that Ludendorff considered laying down arms (but cleverly made civilian politicians to announce it).
@amols101
@amols101 7 ай бұрын
Misleading. It was the Senate who rejected it. Read this from senate dot gov. On July 10, 1919, the president of the United States, for the first time since 1789, personally delivered a treaty to the Senate. This was no ordinary treaty; it was the Treaty of Versailles, ending World War I and establishing the League of Nations. As Secret Service agents and Capitol Police officers sealed off the Senate wing to everyone without a special pass, President Woodrow Wilson walked into the chamber lugging the oversized document under his right arm. Recently returned from Paris and his unprecedented self-assigned role as leader of the American negotiating team, Wilson hoped for prompt Senate approval but feared trouble from Republicans, newly restored as the chamber's majority party. The president's address set his ratification campaign off to a stumbling start, as he strained to read from typewritten notes on small index cards. Perhaps suffering from the effects of a small stroke, Wilson inadvertently omitted words as he proceeded. Realizing this, he stopped and repeated the garbled sentence, only to drop more words and repeat more sentences. Only near the end of his 40-minute address did Wilson approach eloquence. Setting aside his cards, the president turned to the Republican side of the chamber, where members sat in sullen hostility. He declared that treaty approval was their only option. "The stage is set, the destiny disclosed. It has come about by no plan of our conceiving, but by the hand of God. We cannot turn back. The light streams on the path ahead, and nowhere else." His conclusion evoked only scattered applause. Wilson's worsening medical condition, including a major stroke the following October, robbed him of the resiliency that had brought significant legislative victories earlier in his presidency. Refusing to agree to the "reservations" necessary to gain vital support from moderate Republicans, Wilson suffered major defeats as the Senate rejected the treaty in November and again the following March.

I met a Nazi war veteran whenever I was a kid he was friends with my Grandfather he was from Hungary whenever the Nazis invaded Hungary he had to fight for the Nazis the stories that man told were amazing I could’ve listened to his stories for hours I was blessed to be able to of met someone who actually experienced it and what it was really like if he was still alive I would’ve had every American listen to his stories especially young Americans today because this new generation think they know but they haven’t got a clue.

@Dweller415

Laude Invicta the facts about the Nazis are accurate but isn’t odd that you never hear much of Stalin who killed more than Hitler or Mao who killed three times as many people. But Communist genocide or antisemitism is rarely talked about in school. But again, the Nazis (and Hitler) were no doubt madmen.

“Invade” is the wrong word to use for the annexation of Austria, Austria in itself is entirely German speaking they had the right to be incorporated into Germany but western propaganda portrait the annexation as an “invasion”
@michaelwilliamson4759
@michaelwilliamson4759 Жыл бұрын
@@ahmad_here8972 I wouldn't call it "annexation" but rather, for lack of a better word: reunion. Austria wanted to be reunited with Germany and Germany wanted to reunite with Austria. German troops marched their way to the heart of Austria and met by huge crowds cheering them on. At the same time, Austrian troops marched their way to the heart of Germany and also met huge crowds cheering them on. In a real sense, it is an accurate portrayal of Hitler's intent: To reunite small portions of Czechoslovakia, Danzig-Bromberg in Poland, Saarland, Sudetenland, and the Rhine and so on through peaceful means of negotiations and reaching an agreement. All of this to reunite the Germans and give them their freedom and rights back. Germans in those nations were brutally persecuted and even murdered on a massive scale.
