I'm a 50+ year old nerd, loved this video and message, but often after depression, loneliness and not knowing many who like the games or things i like. I've always done board games and gaming with my daughter growing up but missing her as she a young lady & uni and away a lot but i hope she continues to love games like me. I like buying and reading call of Cthulhu adventures even if i don't get play them and into many games whether pc, board or rpg's. However I feel likeI was born in either the wrong time or place or just never found my group. Keep up the amazing work & vids and watched many videos from varoius channels and loved your stuff, Will wheaton etc, thanks for the content.

correction : you are not a nerd, you are geek.

There was no gatekeeping in tabletop games or video games. Every girl or woman could have gone to the store to buy a game . . . but they didn't. Instead, they ostracized the boys that did and shamed them for liking games. Now we all get the pleasure of being gaslighted into pretending it was actually the boys that were keeping them from gaming and that they all actually wanted to game in the first place. Pure nonsense and a joke to anyone over the age of 30. My first time playing D&D I went to the most generic of book stores and bought an Advanced D&D Second edition book from a cashier who likely had no idea what D&D was. There was NO gate. There has NEVER been a gate, aside from social stigmas attached to gaming that were largely perpetuated by women young and old. Representation is largely important to women because women are risk-averse. They are less likely than men to take risks when concerning their social status. They need to see other women doing a thing before they are comfortable also doing that thing. A lot of men/boys didn't care about being branded a geek and so they did what they loved. I'm happy women are finally getting it, but stop pretending like it was some sort of struggle or that the times today have changed and society has finally accepted you. No. Gaming is accepted today because all those poor geeks who were being teased horribly in the 80's (see EVERY movie made in the 80's and early 90's) kept at it and showed more and more people how amazing gaming is, be it tabletop or virtual.
