If you are new to my channel and Fy Nyth (Welsh for "My Nest") in general, welcome! I'm Ariel. Along with my husband Clay, our dogs, cats, and some poultry, we live in a tiny house on wheels in the mountains of western Wyoming and are working on setting into our own new little homestead. I've been living this lifestyle since 2014 and my wonderful partner has joined me more recently. What will you find if you follow the channel and watch the videos?
Real life here. I try to show the good and the bad. The ups and the downs. What works, and what doesn't. The parts I love (most of it!), and the things that suck. Not just the showroom version of a tiny house, but everyday life in a tiny house. Not just the romantic idea of "homesteading" or off grid life, but the everyday details of this lifestyle. We split wood for heat, fill the water tank from a gravity fed spring, and attempt to grow as much of our own food as possible between the weather and wildlife here. I hope to help others learn from mistakes and make life just a little easier for anyone else interested in pursuing a similar lifestyle.
We live in a somewhat harsh and cold climate, but enjoy the stunning scenery and wildlife that we are surrounded by on a daily basis. You'll also see videos of the nature and wildlife around my home. If you are interested in my photography or purchasing a photo, I'd love if you follow that over at mewe.com/join/... or ArielCelestePhotography.zenfolio.com!

My parents had a backup kitchen in our 1 barn it had 4 picnic tables in it and a cookstove. it also had a gas stove. it was used for canning and we had family get together also in it. plus the house didn't get heated up in the house.You are so informative and educational. But most of all you are enjoyable to watch.

I know that outdoor kitchens are cool. Place to cook, screened in dining area but I actually like your setup. Things can be moved & it’s nestled into an already existing structure. Thanks for sharing this with us Ariel!❤️

Glad to see this. Been wanting to do this for multiple reasons. Canning, cleaning and sorting produce as it comes to harvest time, processing home grown chickens and various meats. As I was watching i came up with some more ideas. Thanks You 😊

I think your outdoor kitchen is perfect Ariel! Like you say if some people can afford fancy, screened, structures it's wonderful for them, but I love how you provide very simple and affordable solutions in all spheres of homesteading. Thanks for sharing! (Love hearing the quacks behind you! :)

'For me, the main cooking facilities are a way to make things hot, a place to wash up, dishes in the mess and a surface to work on, whatever I'm doing.' ... Your definition of 'kitchen' is mine .. It reminds me of when I do wilderness camping ... just the basics! :-) Outdoor kitchen's are wonderful. When summer hits we do nearly all of our cooking on the back deck ... it's evolved over the years and works really well. Many thanks for the informative video.🌷

awesome tips! I was thinking of an area for cleaning my gardening tools and planter boxes before winter so they would all be fresh and clean for spring. I don't need the heating source, but I love the idea of setting up a work able and sink . And to be able to take it down would be great and easier to store too. Thanks Ariel, great tips!!!

I did my canning in no. CAL. that way...3 burner, refer, picnic table, wash tub and 2 pantry's...here in Co. I have a outdoor table and sink but next yr. I will set up better because my garden is going to be bigger and I already can the whole mo. Of Sept. and planning at least 2 more weeks for apples and longer if we get an elk...😁😁😁

I have been meaning to set up an outdoor kitchen this year, but never got around to it. I love your setup. I have an old clothing store table, and a single burner cooktop. We have a big pole barn that I could do my canning in. I would like to have a double sink like yours that we could set up in the pole barn and running water just outside. Thank you so much for the inspiration. Take care.

It looks like the burner has a variable regulator and it’s set too high. The flame should be blue and low. I had a regulator like that and swapped it out for a fixed one that you can find at most hardware stores for less than $20.

Meat and low acid foods need to be pressure canned. The USDA or county extension services have web sites that will answer most of your questions. Plus they has tables and charts for how long to do, what.

You have no idea how awesome this is. I've been in the process of making an outdoor pressure canning setup and using a similar propane camp stove. Our kitchen stove is about dead so I've been using the camp stove and the more I use it, the more I love it, and the more I use it. I'm already cooking outside under the carport, why not make it a kitchen? Having fun planning and plotting with it.

My home office desk is a (no longer produced) series of "modular cubes" (15 inches x 15 x15 or x30, etc), but my desktop, the thing I write on and put my computer on, etc, is a door. I put bullnose (rounded) trim on the front edge where my forearms rest, and used shelf paper to cover over the main survace where I do my most work, so it's extra smooth, no splinters, and it allows me to clean it every so often, removing spills, crumbs, & body oil from my skin.
@davidcox3076

Cool set-up! I built my home office desk, too. And used the bullnose trim on the front edge. Great minds think alike! The shelf paper is a neat solution. You could even paper both sides if it's just a sheet of wood on sawhorses. Then you could flip it and use the other side as needed. I put three coats of polyurethane on mine to create a similar low maintenance surface. The spill protection alone was worth all the time and fumes.

You live in a tiny house, it does not seem possible to store the amount of food you are canning in the tiny house. Where are you storing the canned foods? I looked through the video archives, but didn't bump into that information.
