My dermatologist has me rotate Head and Shoulders, Selson Blue, and Nizoral and that seems to work fine. This is for scalp. Also have issue around nostrils so I apply on that area too. Basically I treat for 5-10 min every 3-5 days. Using different shampoo each time. Nizoral does seem to be the best of the three so thats cool to see in this vid. And yes this dermatitis does flare in the winter. I think getting a few min of sun on the scalp helps too. For me the issue has settled down over last few years (am now doing a Mediterranean diet just for health but who knows). I still rotate the 3 shampoos but do shorter treatment times. Great vid and explanation. Thanks.

@@MoonXchills11 Stress is what's triggering it the most for you and manny others, because stress affects the immune system. It's an overreaction from the immune system towards the waste of broken down sebum by the Malassezia living on our skin. You have to figure out why your immune system overreacts. Nr. 1 is food intolerances, 2. is other food and drinks causing digestive inflammation, 3. is stress: consistent sleep(!), exercising, walks, sunlight, meditation etc.. If you figure out these three factors you will se major improvements.

I use Dercos Anti-Dandruff Shampoo For Normal To Oily Hair, which was more effective for me with less side effects than Ketoconazole. The sensitive version seems to lack some of the active ingredients of the normal-oily variant, so I wouldn't recommend that one unless you find it works for you. I use a pill that has a vitamin D3 and K2 combo. I heard it is an inflammation from immune system response as I am now closing in on 51 y/o. It kicked-up out of nowhere as a slight rash on the forehead in early 2018 and worsened since spreading to both cheeks. I also use a a topical steroid. Cortizone-10. After treating 2 dufferent workout injuries, I had to orally take Prednisone. It goes away completely after 5 days, is good for about a week but then come back.

I used to have seborrhea on my face (nose to cheeks area and lower forehead) since my mid teen years. I suspect that it was triggered by a very stressful family event when I was 14. I was given a few creams and corticosteroids but it only became worse. My condition started getting much, MUCH worse around the age of 24 and I remembered there were even days when I literally couldn't leave the house. It was extremely depressing and I completely lost hope about life. The most interesting thing was that there were moments when I felt like the burning and sort of a "darkness" is coming up my body and in few hours it hit my face and the condition just became extremely bad. Seborrhea was always there but these "attacks" were very scary. I always compare it to as if you have all the energy and drive to do things, accomplish your daily task, etc. but it felt as if there was an invisible hand that is holding you on the ground and not releasing you. Around that time, I went to India (Tamil Nadu) and stayed at yoga ashram for 2 full months. We ate twice a day, only oragnic local food, had a lof of movement, did cca 50 mins of meditation a day. My seborrhea completely vanished and my skin never looked better. However, after returning back home to Europe, I noticed it is slowly coming back and even though it was not as severe as before, it was clear to me that either: 1) I did something in India that I normally don't do at home, or 2) I was not doing something that I normally do back home. I came to conclusion that it must be something about the food and since I heard about the digestion/skin connection, I decided to visit a gastroenterologist. They did the endoscopy, took a sample, and after two weeks sent me the result that confirmed that I have celiac disease. I had to completely change my eating habits but most importanty - after a few days without gluten, my condition became much better and since then I have NEVER experienced seborrhea in any form again. I used no cosmetics, I did not even wash my face, nothing of that sort. It was just about omitting gluten in all of its forms. This is my personal story and experience and other people might get in because of different reasons but I can only recommend to get your gut checked. Good luck and a lot of strength to everyone who is still dealing with seborrhea.

Zinc shampoos never worked for me. I believe most of my issues came from build up on my scalp and skin - as well as perhaps a breakdown of my skin barrier. Here’s what I use now: For my face I use Cerave Hydrating cleanser followed by Paula’s choice 2% bha exfoliant or the ordinary azeliac acid suspension 10%, and a cerave spf moisturizer lotion. (All of these you just use a little to stretch your bottles but use plenty of spf as these acids can make you susceptible to sun). For my head I use a tea tree oil shampoo and a silicone brush to massage the scalp and beard. Although dry skin still happens with low humidity environments - it’s much better than before.

I also have seborrheic dermatitis, and these are information shared by my doctor. This is not a disease, but a skin condition. It cannot be cured, but maintained under control. It gets triggered by genome, more often to men than women. It's more progressive as reaction to stress. For treatment, same medication will help some people, while not others. So you will need to change it, until you find what suits you. Fungus that Alexander is mentioning is responsible for skin condition, but root cause is genome and stress that helps fungus to "do it's work". Other external factors can help progression of seborrheic dermatitis (sun, dry weather, swimming pool, etc.) Treatment requires a lot of patience and persistence. It will not be "cured" with one day treatment, you have to keep on using one type of products until you see the change. If no progress after several weeks, you need to try some other products. And once you resolve the issue, you must continue with skin care products to keep it under control. There is a lot of cosmetic products specially developed for treatment, and lot of them have "DS" mark in their name. Try to find products that have more natural ingredients, less or not at all sulfates, that don't make your skin more dry, and do your best to keep stress level as low as possible. Be more active, in the nature, outside, with people you love and care for.

Grapefruit Seed Extract LINDERS AND allows you into direct sunlight Without Any pigment-damage. I just intuitively tried it when I had something similar (perhaps worse) that was making even just the reflections of sunlight burn while sitting in the shade. And it was amazing, as well for the discomfort of the skin itself that I constantly had even while indoors without any sun at all. It stings for half a minute or so, and then it takes the soreness away all freakin day.

Since I have this condition I've only been using 3 products on my face, no hot water (nzither on my face nor on my scalp) and it's way better than what it used to be, eventhough I can still have after the gym or when it too hot or humid outside.

Video is legit. Do the p-zinc (head and shoulders). Let that sit on your face for about 10 min. Try not to drink alcohol and try not to consume simple carbs like sugar (candy). If you do those few things, the seb. Derm will lesson over time. This dude knows what he is talking about.

Try giving up dairy. Cheese is the trigger for me. Small amounts of milk occasionally don’t seem to cause it but cheese more than once in a week definitely flares it up. I got it in my fifties too. It took a couple of years to figure out was doing it.

wow your skin looks great and so even. the ketoconazole shampoo worked for me for a couple months but isn't as effective anymore. lately the only thing that's been helping is the Living Proof Scalp Care Dry Scalp Treatment. I add it all over my scalp after I wash my hair (about twice a week) and its been amazing at keeping the SD at bay. I also like to put it on certain areas on my face/body that flare up mostly around my nostrils. Thanks for the tips!

Ugh. I put up with red itchy SB flare ups for years around my nostril and eyelid creases. Finally went to a dermatologist and got the best remedy ever. It was Hrydocortisone Ointment 1%. Clears it up in practically 48 hours and kills the itching instantly. I'll put in on from time to time before bedtime as soon as I think I'm feeling itchy and it prevents a flare up from happening. Give it a try sometime, it's right there on the shelf at CVS and Walgreens. Be sure to get the ointment version and not the cream.

My current protocol isnt great because im a bit clueless of how to handle it. i have a lot of red skin in the same areas, as well as red bumps almost like angry acne. heres what im doing but i think its too harsh 1. head and shoulders on the skin (only 1% Pyrithione zinc)- i can't find calm cool and corrected in canada but i might use a vanicream bar soap with 2% 2. neutrogina oil free acne wash-probably more for acne i use both of these in the shower. 3.cerave hydrating cleanser for after any recommendations would help a lot. also trying to drink a lot more water

My fix was getting 15-30min of sun every day, avoiding sulfate and silicone based shampoo and going on a low carb diet with intermittent fasting (8/16 window). Also sulphur soap is a godsend for cleaning the face after exercises. Took me around 2-3 weeks doing this to see improvements.

I've had seborrheic dermatitis for years, since puberty, had no idea what it is and didn't know it was connected to dandruff (same fungus), which I also got at puberty. The Malassezia fungus really accelerated my androgenic alopecia, which I didn't know it could do that (this was the late 90s; internetz sucked back then, so finding out about this stuff wasn't easy, and I don't visit doctors unless I really, really have too, lol). Began using ketoconazole 2% last year, and other shampoos like the Vichy Dercos series (they contain salicylic acid among other useful active ingredients), great stuff. Really works. I still flare up if I don't use these anti-fungals for days, but they really work. Also, tretinoin is very helpful too, as it rejuvenates the skin.

For people in UK try brand “Bulldog” and their sensitive moisturiser m, it has good thick consistency and absorbs well. Helps me keep this annoying condition under control but dieting has the biggest effect imo which I dont follow that well. I do moisturise after every face wash/shower I take.

I've had these problems for literally decades and the times I asked doctors they just kind of shrugged and said "use dandruff shampoo," which did shit-all. Finally I tried nizoral 2% and it was the first thing that ever made the condition go away, but I have to use it almost constantly. I have since discovered a much cheaper shampoo with the same active ingredient (it's called Sebizole) which also works really well. On top of that, I've discovered that nizoral also make a cream that you can apply directly to your skin with the same medicine in it, which I have started applying on my face as soon as I notice my skin becoming rougher of redder in the places I get the breakouts. It helps a lot.

There is an easy way to do this down as told to me by a dermatologist anywhere for someone with this condition, harbor moisture on their body. This is likely to appear. I have been dealing with this for over 35 years and regular face washing with salicylic acid and proper sunscreenand moisturizer I’m taking care of the face and the scalp. I’m sorry to say is a bit more touchy.

I’ve also noticed an improvement since taking omega 3 fatty acids (I’ve opted for algae oil, as it’s a superior source). My theory is that it supports the skin barrier and that impaired skin barriers are an underlying cause of many skin conditions 🤷🏼‍♀️

Tried all this a loooong time ago in my 20s. After a while it stops being effective. Also, you don't actually need it. Face: I use native coconut oil (the one you can eat) as after-shave for the last 12 years. Not a signle flake on my face since... Dandruff: Just go to sauna, and rub your scalp with your finger tips while there. Initialy 3 times a week. When it clears up, just do it once or twice a month to maintain.

Hope it will help someone - I have this condition on face (t -zone)for 2 years , it doesn't itch much but it burns hell alot, most of the time i spent on creams and moisturizers , but no , u can't just put anything on your skin . I expose my face in direct sunlight for 10-15 min ( neither too harsh nor too gentle sunlight) I haven't used any cream or moisturizer for 4 months. But i dont know about rainy and winter season when there will be not enough or almost nill exposure to sunlight. I am a vegetarian and i avoid processed food , sugar , fast food , much oily food , spicy , and processed white wheat flour ( maida ) . Although i consume wheat flour , rice and other things , if u go no or very less carb , how ur body will get enough energy to do work? I'm currently working on my gut health, and if u put anything randomly on ur face it might feed yeast .

When I follow the link in the description it takes me to a bar soap?? I can’t find the exact product that you showed in the picture when you showed all three products together. I did find the derma doctor, cool, calm, and correct it on Amazon, but I cannot find the exact product that you show in the picture. I would really like to try this product. There’s not too many reviews for this product on Amazon compared to most products on there so maybe it’s a newer product? Thank you for your time and making this video. 👍👍

I do want to add that that site you noted with all the different information’s was very helpful and I bookmarked it. Once again, thank you so much for your very helpful video and sharing your story. I hope if you do have any more breakouts, you will share them because it’s very helpful to see newer videos on KZfaq concerning this problem compared to a lot of the older ones where people only bring up using dandruff shampoo on their face. Also, have a dermatologist on the planet is trying to make some extra cash talking about this problem, but not talking about the actual prescription medicines that are available for their clients. I have one now that has helped me in the past and I just started using it again today after watching your video yesterday. Good luck to you and your channel. You seem like a very nice guy.
