Tracy, thank you for sharing your expert advice on what to do to mitigate some of the damage caused by wind and heavy rain. We can't change the weather but knowing how to tackle the damage afterward is such an important thing to know! I hope you and your family have a wonderful weekend. ~Margie🌦😊💐

Thanks Tracy, I agree, the timing was perfect. Although my in-ground plants are well watered, I noticed a few leaves on my panicles started turning yellow and dropping . Also a couple of my Bo Bo panicles changed directly to brown colour . With the Bo Bo it was planted last fall, so could it be due to the immaturity of the plant?

I think they are still young and may need to be watered more deeply to encourage the roots to grow deeper into the soil thus will be able to withstand the heat wave (no rain) like the one we had recently in August. Hope your Bobo will get better Eileen!

I’ve also had a very hard rain and wind storm for almost 24 hrs here in ME! It hit my beautiful Pee-Gee hydrangea and all the stems have bent down except for the blooms at the very top! I so sad that we have to cut off the blooms😔but I don’t want any damage to the stems. Thank U Tracey, and I hope yours will be ok❣️😊

Try a Quick Fire. So pretty. Panacal, but exploded, layer bloom.

What is the purple plant in the black container at 1:35?? Standard in the middle? You have one of the most beautiful and obtainable lush backyard. The variety of shapes and colors always look amazing on your thumbnails.❤

They are lobelia annual plants. Aren’t they pretty? 💚 I started three packs of lobelia seeds just a few days ago. I love them so much that I’m going to plant them in mass throughout the front garden.

Hi Tracy. I was wondering how you overwinter your potted hydrangeas. I live in the Hamilton area and would love to pot some hydrangeas around my pool
@TracysHomeGarden
@TracysHomeGarden Жыл бұрын
Hi Rene, Yes, you can plant panicle hydrangeas in pots. I would suggest you plant them in large containers 20” or so. In the winter you can put them right up against a south/west wall of the house for some radiant heat (and sun) and protection against the cold dry winter wind which tend to kill the plants. Oh…get a trolley so you could maneuver the containers as they will get very heavy with all that soil.

Hi Tracy,,how long do you keep the standards staked? When do you normally remove them??
@TracysHomeGarden
@TracysHomeGarden Жыл бұрын
Hi Randy, You should keep the stakes on for at least 3 years….or until the trunk get to about 2” and/or the plant gets well rooted into the ground. Hydrangeas in pots may need to be staked permanently as their roots are not as well supported as plants in ground.
