you don't have to do science, maybe like business or law stuff, but you do want some experience in the field you're doing

Try on Fb groups, You can check Consumerchoice internship program on FB their HR interns really made an effort to make it visible to everybody. that's where I had mine.

if the previous professor doesn’t respond, how long should i wait before emailing a different professor

Before the deadline. So say something is due to 2 weeks. If you asked a professor and they haven’t replied in a 7 days, then move on or hassle that professor. It really depends on how much that person knows you, the deadline, and etc...

Generally 18+ if you are in college. It's obviously tougher in high school since most programs will require that you have some knowledge of higher level concepts in the field related to the program. In my case, I had the sufficient and adequate dual enrollment credits to apply to an internship focused on research (where I picked a topic relative to my major). The requirements was also to be 18, which I'm not, and I was still accepted. So it's really just about your situation. If you have connections with professors that will also help a lot (one of my professors for my dual enroll. classes wrote me my letter of recom.)
