Hi, everyone! Today, I share my college application stats, which helped me get into schools like Stanford, Columbia, and Brown. Enjoy!
If you need any college application help, please check out collegeadvisor.com/lour-drick . The founder of CollegeAdvisor.com personally reached out to me, and after looking over their service, I would have to say that it would've been super helpful to me when I was applying to colleges. Again, if you need any college application advice and essay editing tips, feel free to take a look at collegeadvisor.com/lour-drick . Good luck with all your college application endeavors!
Ever since my college reaction video, I've been getting a lot of comments asking for my GPA, SAT, extracurricular activities, etc. I thought it would be good to create a stats video to answer y'all's questions. I do not mean to show of my accomplishments or flex on other students. My hope is that future seniors will find use in my video as they go through the college application process themselves.

Very little STEM in his portfolio so MIT rejection makes sense... but as for the rest, I agree. That's the insane nature of the college process for you... gets into Columbia and Stanford... but not Dartmouth or BU. Can't make this stuff up.

@@LourDrickValsote Okay so pre ap is supposedly more challenging than regular and kind of equivalent to honors classes. But to take most APs you need to have completed the pre ap class for it. @@LourDrickValsote You can take the PSAT but it's not school-wide or anything. If we want to take it we have to personally talk to our test coordinator about it! I took it this year (I'm a sophomore) just to get a hang of it, and I probably will next year, but only for the National Merit program. I'm still debating on taking the SAT, though. I quite like the ACT because I'm really bad at standardized math tests, and on the ACT there's less math for me to mess up! Lour Drick Valsote The SAT is definitely more present in my school and in the area, as they proctor PSAT’s and hold SAT’s, but I know there are also a lot of people who take the ACT as well, and use whichever score is higher. You have to be able to drive by the end of your Sophomore year, possess a driver's license at the start of Junior year so you don't have to bug your parents to drive you to your numerous EC activities and attendance to advanced courses at local community colleges, etc. If you fail to achieve independent mobility by your Senior year, have your girlfriend/boyfriend drive you to your academic responsibilities and community services relevant to Common App and then give her/him a bunch of TLC afterwards. Lastly, have enough money to pay for the submission of your 26 college applications. 😂

Do you have any advice for underclassmen in HS? I really want to get into a STEM major at a t20. I would love to go to MIT :) I have some good ECs but they aren’t very developed yet and I’m worried given the pandemic is slowing everything down it’s going to take even longer to develop them. I’m taking all H classes as a freshman and I’ve maintained all As except 3 A-s (as far as end of quarter grades). I’m planning on taking 2 or 3 APs next year.

your grades look solid, and i think you'll be well on your way if you can keep that up. i think now is actually a good time to try to develop your ecs because there are a lot of great things you can do online from home! My friend Iris made a great video about how she started her own passion projects, and i think you could try doing something similar! here is a link to her video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nLlzlcx02rOzhI0.html . If you want to go into STEM, i think there are a lot of great things that you can experiment around with using just a computer! P.S. if you watch her video, tell her i sent you;)

Ayy love the content! Find so many similarities in terms of college apps in general with you. I am also a college content creator and recently posted some vids on college application. Wanna see if you are down to make a collab about extracurricular activities and some more specific stuff. I am an international student in China majoring in EECS(Planning to go to JHU or Duke). Just thought coming from different perspective to share advice would be interesting! Let me know if that is good to you!

ik I'm replying about a year after this video was made, but I wanted to say that it was very informative (extracurriculars made me panic though lol). I'm gonna be a junior so I still got about a year and a half until college apps, but I wanted to ask you this since my school only offers the ACT but I've already taken the SAT: would you recommend that I take both of them and submit each score? I know a lot of people only take 1 so I was wondering if getting good scores on both would improve my chances at getting in.

it was an award given by a teacher who was an alum of harvard, and it came from the local harvard alumni association i believe. if you have any teachers who were harvard alumni, reach out to them to see if the same situation applies to your school!
