Dude, I have to say after watching so many "How I got into" videos, yours is very unique. Though their ECs and community services look good, they are all similar and uninteresting since everyone is doing the same thing, NHS, music, art, hospital aide, president of robotics club, student government, science fair. Your volunteering after the wildfire gives me the feeling of real-life people. Your help to the families hurt by the wildfire really was material. Their renewed life moves a bit faster with your help. Some volunteering looks good on the surface, like playing music for retired people, but far from indispensable. Could you make a video focusing on that volunteering?

Thanks, glad to hear it. I might make a more specific video soon, as well as other videos for my other acceptances.

Congrats could you do a video on your ecs? I’m a sophomore right now with mid grades but insane ecs and am wondering about my chances. I can also just put my ecs under this comments. For context I have a 3.95 gpa, I know it’s not that bad but my parents have high expectations lol. I also plan on taking every ap relevant to my desired major.
@WillKranenburgАй бұрын
Yes, I will make one soon. 3.95 is great!

Do you think applying regular decision versus early decision helped you? Can I ask why you didn’t apply early decision?
@WillKranenburg24 күн бұрын
Statistically applying early decision gives you a better chance. I applied early decision to a different school, so I was unable to do the same at Penn.

would you say it’s possible to get into an Ivy League with a 3.7 uw gpa?
@WillKranenburg26 күн бұрын
I would say that it's possible, in that a 3.7 won't be the reason you are kept out

How do you have a 4.1 UW GPA?
@WillKranenburgАй бұрын
We could get an A+ in an AP class that counted as 4.3.

should i retake the sat if i already have a 1500 score
@WillKranenburgАй бұрын
It depends - are you applying to some of the most selective schools? In that case, a few more points maybe could give you slight boost. But, a 1500 already demonstrates near-mastery of the material on the test and is a fantastic score on its own.
@samyukthn9288Ай бұрын
@@WillKranenburg I plan to apply to wharton, does a few points make any difference
@WillKranenburgАй бұрын
@@samyukthn9288 Penn's average is right around 1500. I would say if you're wiling to put in some prep time, it could be worth it to take it again to bump it up a bit (example: 1580 vs 1500) but I also don't think you would be denied as a result of that 1500

I got a 3.9 weighted. Am I screwed?
@WillKranenburgАй бұрын
I wouldn't say so - there's so much more in an application than the raw GPA number. You can get an edge in the way you craft your essays and the research you do about Penn. A great SAT score would not hurt either.
@equinox2655Ай бұрын
@@WillKranenburg I’m thinking about ACT. does that hurt my chances? I’m at a 32 rn and I’m shooting for a 34/35 next test
@WillKranenburgАй бұрын
@@equinox2655 if you hit 34/35, that would be huge and I would recommend sending that. 32 is a great score but below the 25th percentile for Penn, so it might be better not to submit that. 34/35 is doable for sure, if. you are already at 32.
@equinox2655Ай бұрын
@@WillKranenburg thanks for the advice. I’ll definitely be taking the ACT again
