Satin is a type of weave you can get fabrics in, it is shiny on one side and matte on the other, Polyester Satin is what you mean as the inexpensive option, because the silk pillowcases are also Silk Satin, there's also cotton satin but as you can guess, it's not as shiny or slippery.

Too many times we feel pressured by the public eye in what's trendier or cuter in their perception but it literally doesn't matter what they say - it's how WE feel and what lies best with our values/happiness/ease. So thankful you can be an inspiration in this 😭😭🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❣❣ Note to self: continue to not do anything except masks to my hair to keep it healthy 🙊 Also scrunchies WERE ALSO SO GOOD FOR ME from elastics, need to so try clips again!!! 😭💕

It’s crazy how similar my hair story is to yours & where my hair is now! (I think I first got highlights in 3rd grade and have been every natural color possible) I got baby lights right before COVID hit last year which has really helped with a really natural grow out. Just in the past few months, I bought a Demi-permanent hair color to help “tone” the blonde that was left and it has helped to help it blend more with my natural color without using any developer and now my hair color looks very similar to yours. It’s been nice to give it a break!

Hey Allana! I’m a hair stylist and I use both silk OR satin pillow cases! I saw a massive improvement in my hair when I was short and platinum blonde but now that it’s more natural and long I barely have to brush my hair in the morning. I have also told a ton of my clients to switch and they have seen improvements as well! I would try a satin pillowcase first and if you like it go for silk!

Yessss!!! Silk bonnets make a WORLD of difference! I have almost NO split ends now, even 2-3 months after a trim! It’s actually pretty crazy and my hair is growing really fast after being stuck at a certain length forever. There’s a bunch of options to choose from on Amazon so they’re easy to get and not overly expensive (fake silk-aka polyester-works fine). Silk pillowcases are okay too but a bonnet is a lot better because it actually keeps the moisture in your hair. Also, if you use skin products at night, the silk pillow cases don’t breathe so can cause break outs...I learned that one the hard way :)

As I just cut my very long hair a few weeks ago, because it got really damaged, dry and I lost a lot of it over a couple of months, this video is really helpful! One thing I found particulary useful for my fine, dry, not processed hair is long term masking! I shampoo my scalp twice(like a double cleansing), then I apply mask or any other hydrating treatment and I leave it on for at least 45 min-1 hour. This trick made my hair less frizzy and is now an essential part in my journey to long and healthy hair!

Please use silk pillowcases. With budget issues just use a satin pillowcase. It doesn’t just helps with hair, it helps also with your skin and prevents wrinkles. Cotton is a moisture soaking material, that’s why satin or silk is so much more gentle ☺️

I damaged my hair too much with bleach and I’ve been trying to repair it and I’m growing out my dark blonde/light brown with some grays mixed in, maybe like 10%. My natural hair is extremely ashy, bordering on gray I guess but I like it. I just cut off a few inches because I really couldn’t run my fingers through my hair and it looked and felt bad…dry and frizzy! I used a Demi-permanent light brown color to get rid of most of the ugly orangey tone that I had as well and now it blends in pretty well with my new growth. I’m so excited to finally grow out my 100% natural hair! I know it’s going to take 1-2 years but time will pass regardless! Great tips, so thanks beautiful lady!

I am OBSESSED with my silk pillowcase. I bought my first one off Amazon. It was 100% mulberry silk and it was very nice. Then I lucked out and found a Slip brand pillowcase at TJMaxx and I will never go back!!! Since I started using it my lashes don't keep an annoying tight curl on the outer edge (I'm a side sleeper), I don't have any creasing on my face from my pillow and my skin feels like it has held more moisture throughout the night, and I no longer have any bedhead or tangles!! It is such a life-changing product I so so strongly recommend one!! The Slip brand pillowcases are so with it (and so are the eye masks!)

As a hairdresser these tips are great! I love a silk pillowcase which you can find on amazon. At least to me they are all the same, but it’s great for creating less friction while you sleep! But some other tips are: 1) DON’T brush your hair wet! Use a wide tooth comb if anything. 2) DON’T sleep with your hair wet. Hair that is wet is more fragile and more likely to tangle so save yourself some time and length by making sure your hair is dry. 3) Massage that scalp BB and increasing blood flow is great for promoting growth! 4) if you have to blow dry, wait till your hair is at least 75% dry. As a hairstylist for a news company we rarely blow dry hair when it’s fully wet. It’s a lot more damaging and a waste of time. You can get a polished style with damp/almost dry hair 5) dry shampoo is your best friend but first use it when your hair is freshly washed and dried!! Like makeup you set it with powder to prolong the wear, allowing the oils to be absorbed as they come out. Similar to dry shampoo you want to create that base instead of loading up when you’re already greasy....Trust me on this it’s a game changer. But I totally feel for all the hairstylists out there who have been affected by Covid. I have been out of work since March and have had to try changing career paths. If your salon is open, even if you don’t feel comfortable going in buying something as small as a gift certificate can change help! IG: Sandra_otrkne

I have super curly hair and a silk pillowcase has absolutely CHANGED MY LIFE!! I literally travel with my pillowcase! I refuse to sleep on anything else! 10/10 would recommend! A satin pillowcase works too and is usually cheaper!

A silk/ satin bonnet has really saved my hair with frizz and bed head....I bought a pack of 2 on Amazon for $3.50 and they stay on all night and I move a lot. I love them and so glad I invested in them. Just make sure you wash them frequently. I think they recommend after every 2-3 nights

Wow the haircolor and how those colours are melting are actually exactly what my goal is! I have the same natural color, and I try growing it out currently AGAIN after a hair dresser ruined my previous growth with a semi colour that did not wash out :-( I know you hair is now light again, but honestly this is such a beautiful, natural colour melt :-)

I love your hair. I did a kaleidoscope of colors in my hair for a few years in my mid to late 20s. Chopped my hair off in 2019 to eliminate the last of the color damaged hair. It was long to my low back cut it to my chin. My boyfriend is still bitter about that cut. I have curly hair so it’s taken awhile to grow out. It’s sitting a few inches below my collar bone now. I hate growing my hair out! But I love that the color is out now and it’s my natural red. Love this video thank you!
