In this video I share how I grew my natural hair in 6 months, realistic hair growth and realistic tips that worked for me! I break down my curly hair growth tips in 2 categories; how to stimulate natural hair growth and how to retain length for natural hair! This was my 6 month hair growth, of course it’s longer straightened because we all know natural hair has shrinkage :) I don’t know my hair type, if I’m 4b or 4c, so I can’t help with identifying which is which! I understand that my hair is not insanely long but for me, being able to wear my natural hair out and feel that it’s full and shoulder length curly is a big accomplishment! I’m sharing these growth journey hair tips in the hopes that it’ll help someone else out!
If you have other tips, I’d love to hear them:)

To be CONSISTENT! That's it That's all! Have a great regimen..for me if my hair is not in a protective style, my wash day regimen is weekly. I wash and Deep c. . Then I use a (L)eave in, a (C)ream and an (O)il. I use wild growth oil...and YES it works wonders. & then I style it for a week. I DO NOT restyle at all that week...just spray it with some water and do the loc method and continue with my life. 🤣. Helps keep it moisturized until next washed day. And if your hair is moisturized it's not spliting and breaking its retaining 👍🏽. And that's the goal!✨️

Deep conditioning each week with a heat cap. I do stretch my hair as well, except in the summer.

Gwen, your hair looks AMAZING 😍 thank you for creating this video! For me, I’m trying to become consistent with deep conditioning, trims, drinking more water & watering my hair. Lol, basically just making sure I spray water, leave in conditioner and oil on my hair (even on top of protective styles).

I didn't think of that, to water it everyday, I guess because I wear it stretched. Do you were the curls out or it up in twist?

I loved your tips about retaining length in the front! I definitely need to moisturize the ends of my hair more, particularly in the front. And maybe I'll wear a headband/ponytail so I don't touch the front of my hair (constantly tucking it behind my ears). I have been wondering why my hair is always breaking off in the front. It looks like I have a layered haircut even though I do an even cut lol. You're blessed for being able to wash every 2 weeks. At the 5-day mark, my scalp starts to itch so that's as far as I can get.

I just started washing every week since I’ve been going heartless for a little bit and it’s sooo much better! Pony tails are great but tight ponytails aren’t the best for the my hair because of the tension!

I can so relate. Retaining moisture is my challenge. I may sleep with DC the night before washing. After washing, I add in product with a thick consistency to lock in moisture. I set in twists and air dry. I wear stretched styles. This is to prevent drying out as well as fairy knots.
@Offthebeatenpath.
@Offthebeatenpath. Жыл бұрын
Yes I used to sleep in it back in the day! Now I try to add heat some kind of way while I have it in, whether that’s with a blow dryer and a bag or take a hot bath or shower while I have the bag of conditioner in! It’s helped tremendously!

@@Offthebeatenpath. Yes, I will use the hooded dryer if I use DC after washing, like while it's wet. But if I apply it to my dry hair, pre-poo, I just sleep on it and it works well, if you try it that way, lmk how you like it.

be careful with the overnight DC...hair sitting wet can make it weak. I have high porosity hair and i learned I cannot DC longer than an hour, even less time if i use heat...i also cant do twist outs bc overtime it damaged my hair.

Stretching your hair helps with length retention because your ends are not wrapping around each other and you do not have single strand knots like you get with wash and gos. The knots is what causes breakage and split ends.

I’ve had the same journey with getting sew ins, taking them out, and then getting another installed within a few days. My leave out was/is significantly shorter 😢 I lost so much hair doing that so I had to stop and it’s done wonders for my wallet, lol. I dislike lace wigs but I discovered u parts and v parts and they’re basically helping me while I go through the process of growing it out. It’s realistic like a fresh sew in and I only wear it when I go out so itching. My scalp is always clean and it’s so nice to be able to remove the wig! 😂 I’ll never get another sew in. Deep conditioning and k18 (game changer) have been helpful in retaining length

girlll i blow out my hair every two weeks with cool / warm air and my hair went from bra strap to past waist length in just under a year. i have 3C/ 4A fine, medium density hair. for the first time i’ve been getting regular trims every 4 months. i leave my hair in a loose low bun or two braids w the ends tucked. i guess i would consider myself a blow dry natural. the best part is if i have a special event to go to , i’ll take some foam wrap and my flexi rods for some heatless curls. i get to see my length while also retaining length. hopefully by next year i’m at tailbone length which is my goal length. thanks for the video 🥰

That’s amazing😍 I wanted to do blow outs for a while but I don’t think I can use blow dry only to get my hair straight, unless I don’t mind the texture! I will have to try it

How do you keep your hair moisturized while blow dried?
@allurachanel
@allurachanel Жыл бұрын
@@tatyanaashley3323 i infuse most of the moisture into my hair during wash day. i always use a highly moisturizing deep conditioner and use 2 heat protectants. 1. fantasia heat serum 2. tresemme keratin smooth spray. spread evenly on damp hair and blow dry on cool / warm. i find that the silicones in the heat protectants allow me to retain most of the moisture from my deep conditioner. my hair will literally smell like my deep conditioner for 2 weeks. after about a week i use camille rose moisture milk and melanin hair care oil only on my ends. i keep my ends off my shoulders and tucked away 98% of the time so moisturizing once is enough for me. hope this helps!! ♥️

Weaves are a great protective style...so many women wear extension and don't realize if they actually take care of their hair under those weaves and wigs you will still be able to retain length.
