Pretty cool to see how it's done. Btw I wanna highlight the fact that seing your fails while you do hard recipes is also entertaining to watch, we're all humans and seing errors and fails is normal and doesn't ruin the experience (and also quite funny, always got a little smirky smile). Like the cursed pikachu from the Pokemon Cookbook or the funny cake from the MINECRAFT Cookbook, definitely some memorable things to watch😄

Oh my goodness, that cursed Pikachu lol 😅 And thank you for your feedback! I agree, I also like to see mistakes so I can learn from them so I'd love it if people can learn from mine haha

KZfaq recommended me Miso after I got big into Anti-Chef, and I think the algorithm is actually onto something there, because they both have that same "I'm just a dude, not a great chef" energy, with the same willingness to show mistakes and talk about flubs. It's nice to admire the more professional cooks on here, but it's *relatable* to watch the journey of one guy slowly learning through experience what "a stiff peak" actually looks/feels like in reality.

Little feedback (not really): I really enjoy your videos because of the minimalistic and home-y feel they have, it’s like something j would watch while i eat, not overly energetic personality or super expensive production, it’s a relaxing video. Keep doing what you do man, love your videos! ❤❤❤

Seeing a "behind the scenes" was an interesting video and it made my day! By the way, also like how you added a foreshadowing of the next cookbook! As a newbie trekkie and absolute geek, i can only say "MaJ'Qa"! Live long and prosper, everyone! (MaJ'Qa just means "very good" or "amazing" in klingon)

I'd love to see a video on recipes you decided not to make and why! Or maybe if there were any recipes you did make but didn't end up leaving in the videos because it was such a disaster! I feel like it would be interesting. It will also showcase some of the recipes we didn't get to see when you review the cookbooks. I could get used to your behind-the-scenes videos. I like hearing you talk about things!

One of the things cooking shows do is essential making double of everything. One for the camera, and one for the stomach. That way you have the prop piece that you don't have to worry about going cold or dry or whatnot, and one to eat served properly. That would probably help with balancing cooking and production time. Just eat one when done and shoot the other one.

As far as the glare on the cookbook goes, you would want something that disperses light. If you've even been professionally photographed, you may have noticed the umbrella lights. Those are the kind that minimize glare on surfaces, whether those surfaces are glasses, countertops, or book covers! Not sure about pricing (and I am in no way a professional, just book smart) but that would probably be your best bet although it may not be the best lighting for the rest of the shot. Any lighting should be set off to either side so you aren't getting a direct light on the cover, but the light is encompassing the book enough to show it off without a glare.

Thank you so much for making this! I was very curious as to how you got all the meals out at the same time while they were still warm, so thank you for clarifying on that. I never knew that cookbook timings didn't account for peeling, chopping, measuring etc. I thought that the people who wrote the books were just way faster and more efficient at it than I was! So thank you for that vindication, and glad to see you have the same kind of approach to mise en place as I do.

Thanks for this video! I love behind the scenes. I just started my cocktail channel and your channel is one of the few that inspired me to get started. I hope I can make content as good as yours in the future. Regarding the glares, you can simply add a polarizing filter to your camera lens and voilà, no more glares! Hope this helps!

Loved it! Not sure if this is helpful or not, but during culinary school we were required to make recipe matrices in classical cuisine because we were making different dishes that had to be presented at the same time. You break down each step of each recipe from prepping to presentation and add them to a timeline. I'll see if I have one I can post to Patreon if you want. Pretty sure my husband has saved all of our computer files from the dawn of time.

I've always been curious about the process behind your videos. I think I may have asked a few months back, even. This was pretty eye-opening. I never would've guessed the sheer amount of time and planning behind a single video. But I'm also not into cooking so I guess I wouldn't think as much. This was a great video, thanks for letting us in on the magic. Also, your content is always so wholesome. I never doubted you were starting a channel for the money or the internet recognition or whatever else people do this stuff for. It was always obvious you enjoyed what you were doing and this video really showcased that about you. That's the one reason I became a Patreon supporter way back when. I very much intend to restart my Patreon support again in the near future. Keep up the great work. (One quick question: have you ever purchased a cookbook for a video to then find it's not a good fit for your channel and decide not to use it?)
