@@kenlucas5474 the times were different in the seventies of course. Martial artists didn’t know about the dominance of Muay Thai, BJJ or MMA. Elvis learned a hard style in Germany from Hank Slemansky, a military instructor. But after that he switched to the doubtful Kenpo karate of Ed Parker, the man who gave him 8 degree black belt. Those guys weren’t really in good shape. I wish he would’ve picked up training with the great Bill Wallace.

In 1974 I got a call from Red West (Elvis' chief of security) and was invited to workout with Elvis and others. My honest opinion is he was a very flamboyant martial artist - overall pretty good. I will make sure to do a video about my time with Elvis soon. Thanks for the idea and for your interest.

@Jake Collins I just wanted to hear his opinion about Norris as a fighter because many people say that Norris was no real fighter because he only fought on points. That´s the reason I wanted to know what Bill thinks about Norris as a fighter. I know that this sparring session took place when Norris was no longer a fighter but an actor while Bill was the current kickboxing champion of the world.

Yes, because he was working on a film at the time. My second choice was Benny Urquidez but he was not available. But, fighting Joe ended up being a perfect match for all involved.

Bill we become what we train for, you fought under the PKA, and im a former kickboxing instructor under the PKA. i have always liked your friend chuck, hes such an easy going guy, however i dont quite agree with how his whole career he has called himself a fighter ? i know that both you and Joe lewis started out in point stop but then moved on to kickboxing under the PKA. where as chuck stayed competing in point stop karate. you and Joe were great fighters and proved your salt time and time again where as Chuck to be honest played it safe and did not fight, he stayed playing tag. please dont think of me disrespectfull, you will know that i too would have done both point stop and kickboxing having had affiliation with the PKA like you, im simply saying i think that though a great guy chuck is he does seem to over rate himself as a fighter when many many hardcore fighters past and present do not regards point stop as fighting but more a game of tag. also ive been informed by a 9th degree master from the usa that chuck actually only won the title just the once. as the tournament wasnt held again until 6 years later and chuck retired the very year the tornaments were held again, so if this is true that would be very dishonest of chuck wouldnt it. can you elaborate or would you rather not ? either way i respect your decision.

At the time we sparred I was at the top of my game. Chuck was a top notch point fighter and in those days point fighting was tough - I saw him drop several opponents. When we did train and spar it was just that - training and some light friendly sparring. I can tell you that even though Chuck was no longer competing he was a very talented and tough fighter. @@ransomedavis2208just because he chose to compete in point fighting mainly because by the time kick-boxing started he was out of his competition days but that doesn’t mean he didn’t train full contact. End of the day it’s all punching and kicking there’s no secret magic techniques they both know the same moves
