I completely agree with you. If a book doesn't resonate with me fairly quickly, I give myself permission to stop. ( Even book club books. 😄) Life is to short to read books that hold no interest.

I always have at least five books going all of the time. It drives other people crazy, they just don't get how I don't get lost or confused, or forget what each is about. For my part, I don't understand people who don't/can't do this. 😂😂

Outside of textbooks, I've never tried reading more than one book at a time. Have never seen any reason to. If I'm enjoying a book I want to continue it until finished.

Different times and genres for me. Morning is technical to enhance work skills, mid day is personal development to refill my bucket, and evening is fiction for entertainment. I can read any of those books during "extra" reading times

Really enjoyed this video. I used to read so much more, and it’s been harder and harder to concentrate. Loved these tips to fit reading back into my routine. These tips can also be applied to studying for a school or work topic, which I’ll be using. Love that you mentioned (for general reading, not required reading 😊) that you don’t have to finish a book! I used to struggle through some bad ones-why waste your time? Come back to it later, or don’t make yourself feel badly. Thanks!

Thank you for this video! Just what I needed to hear as I've been in a bit of a rut and find myself on a screen more than in a book. I actually JUST started reading Atomic Habits last night, very excited to read it. Also, one tip I learned a long time ago- listen to audiobooks on 1.25 speed (or faster if you can keep up!). Helps push through if it is a book you're not 100% into.

I've been reading a book a week this year, similar in that its a mix of non-fiction (biographies, growth/learning) and some fun fiction. I use the Libby app to listen when I'm driving, exercising and when I'm doing dishes or cleaning house. If i can get outside with a physical book, i try to do that too. ❤

I have always loved reading. I can thank my mom for that. I have vivid memories of her reading books to me as a kid and she always encouraged me to read. She always had a book nearby and read regularly herself. (❤) My friends don't get it that I enjoy reading more than watching a movie but my imagination can always create better images than anything a camera can film and when reading a part of me is connected with the story more deeply. I have a hard time with audiobooks because I easily get distracted, even for just a minute, and then realize ive missed too much and feel a need to stop it and go back which J find too frustrating. Trying to get better at that. Would really like for you to do a video on practices you take to get the most out of your reading time.

Reading before bedtime is not a good idea for me because I don’t put the book down. Lol Sometimes I’m still reading at 2am. I’ve started to set an alarm when to close the book, and just meditate for a bit before I fall asleep. Although I do push the snooze button quite often. 🤪 I will try to get up a bit earlier and read for a bit in the morning.

every year, this is my goal, but I end up stopping it as life gets in the way. So I start this again and take this vid as a challenge. I used to travel weekly and utilized podcasts and audiobooks while traveling. Post covid, i no longer travel as much and my reading, listening to audiobooks and. podcasts has stopped. So now, I'm going to try the 30 min in the morning and in the evening for learning something new. Here's hoping the habit sticks.

I read 4-5 books a month which I pick at the beginning of the month when I am planning my month.I vary between fiction and non-fiction, but I don't read two at the same time. I tried it and it wasn't satisfying for me. I read less because of it and so I changed it back to only one at a time. With non-fiction I read daily, with fiction I plan less but longer sessions to immerse myself better into the story. Reading is great, thanks for the video. :)

I've been reading about a book a week for the last couple of years. I tend to forget most of what I read though, so I think it's also important in the case of educational books to write notes on key concepts that you can apply. Otherwise, I find they become hazy. I still don't feel any smarter after all the reading, but maybe it's a more subtle change. I switch between science fiction/ fantasy and educational/ science/ philosophy/ self help.

Back in high-school and middle school I would read a book a week and 2 more over the weekend, it was pretty standard for me, but now I'm not able to keep up with how many I read a week. Sometimes, I'll go through 7 in a week. Other times, I won't read for several weeks. My annual reading goal is 100 books a year, and I almost always hit it despite the weeks where I just don't read anything.

I have been oscillating between 2 books 1 being the new book by Neerja Bharadwaj (a respesteced journalist from India) and the other being grimms fairy tales. Also if you want to listen to a well narrated audiobook, then you can check out the jeeves series and the blandings series narrated by the legend Stephen Fry. Although need to pick up pace. Will try your advice.

I have been reading a book a week myself. I've found books throughout the years at thriftstores, yardage, or free somewhere. My collection is huge yet I hadn't had time to read. But now I have a job where I have had time. It is life changing. 3 books in 3 weeks. I started off with 200 page books now 300. I'm also obsessed with the knowledge and getting it finished asap. Also I wrote a book. I got approved for self publishing. But I really want to be found. So I ask you Mr intelligent man do u know any pathways to make this a reality. Get published? Do I go the agent route or the new fashioned Amazon way. I'm in pondering mode on this. Please reply. I'd be so grateful. Thank you for sharing yourself with us. Also the emotional intelligence 2.0 how was that? I need to level up my EI 😂
