How I rig Swimbaits for Coldwater Fishing (Nikko Bait Winnow 95 and Varivas Rock On Hooks). Fishing for bass made easy with the Varivas Rock on Hooks. You can add their tungsten clip on weights and boom, you now have a Jig Rig (jika rig). The Nikko Baits Winnow 95 is like Zman products! It's durable and floats! You can swim jika rig, bounce it, drag it.. it will work! The swimbait fished at the bottom will look like a dying struggling bait and will entice the winter bass to nab it!
If you need to raise your lure up off the bottom, but still fish it slow. Try adding the Down Shot leaders! you now have a Tokyo Rig/Drop shot rig ;)

I don't use that here due to shallow waters. But when I used to fish deeper bodies, it's one of my Favs 🙌

OK, kind of like a Tokyo rig? How do you fish it? Slow? Wondering how different this is from a drop shot with a super short leader. I need to figure something out because my soft plastic bite needs help in this cold water!

When u fish Jika Rig, u fish it like a jig and pig. When u fish it as a Power shot rig (Tokyo rig) u can flip and pitch or vertical jig close structure. When you drop shot, it's mainly vertical jig. This is versatile as u can change the rigging easily and fast to your liking!. I often jika rig with floating style plastics in place of ned rigging! Give that a shot

@@rawrfishing I like that! I fish a lot of silt so I think a ned rig just gets buried in that stuff. This keeps the bait just off the bottom. I'll def be adding this to the cold water arsenal. My surface temp today was around 40-38, so getting COLD indeed.

@@rawrfishing here in Arizona a good technique is extremely slow rolling spinner baits literally dragging them during the winter. It's boring but effective.

Bottom crawling a floating plastic via a free swinging hook is a good technique... Almost like Ned rigging

jika rig is amazing with creature baits! Winter, i use shad or swimbait cuz i can imitate some dying forage in my lakes. but if the lake was primarily craws... game on!

I have not focused on using this lure this season. Been a bit too busy, but I have used similar lures from zman with great success in the past.

That's incorrect! A Tokyo rig, although it was inspired by the Jika Rig, is a fixed length wire that can either do a power shot rig, or shortened to a jika rig. This rig portrayed here is just a ring hook that allows you to be even more versatile by changing different hardware. portrayed were Jika rig and power shot rig (or simply a short drop shot rig used for casting)

ahh gotcha. That's very interesting as we don't use that term as most soft plastics are not silicone at all. Plastisol or basically vinyl plastic. Then you have these types that are mainly TPE and other components, but I don't think there are silicone in those. The only silicone I can think of are strands for jigs?

@@rawrfishing its a general term for us I had no idea about the material I though it was silicone as most of us most use fiiish black minnow as I do but I am not fan of soft baits I prefer jigs and now I am addicted to poppers sadly we don't have gt in my country :(

So when u lose a pegged Texas rigged Craw.. U got a hook, weight, lure, peg... So 4 items... We got a all in one rig... Weight and hook here plus the lure... That's 4 items... So what are u saying really? Oh let's talk neko rig... Plastic, hook, nail weight, o ring.... 4 items... Hmm still the same amount.. When one fish, they know what works best for their waters! If u wanna be a lazy guy who uses just a Jig and a plastic, go for it. I often reach for the easy rig! But complex rigs gets job done better as you can customize to your liking..
