How refreshing to see a single mom with multiple jobs being reaponsible and NOT complaining about neing a mom... so many girls these days do nothing but complain about how hard it is to be a mom and it bothers me. I was a stay at home mom for 1 year after each of my boys were born and then went back to work.. sometimes 2 jobs... and still, my favorite job ever was being a mom.. best and most rewarding job ever. I too had 5 jobs. My intention was to sell my time to the highest employer. Every minute of the day was accounted for 7 days a week. I had 2 small kids, going through a divorce and in the Army. Some jobs paid well. Others supplied food on the table. Then there were the jobs that had a pension. By working a job that supplied a pension, and I was at an early age, I set myself up for an early retirement. It pays to look at head in your life. :-)

In 1996 I left my corporate job to go back to school full-time. Before classes started in the fall I had the summer to figure out how to make enough income to keep Rudy, my cat, in the lifestyle he had become accustomed to. I worked temp as an admin asst while also working at a retail shop two nights a week and then started as a server in a restaurant for the weekends and one night a week. I hustled and honestly had a lot of fun as I felt like I was in charge of my own destiny. When classes started, I focused on the server job as it was the most flexible and best money for my time -- then added working in a chemistry lab and teaching (again, three jobs) until graduation. It was exhausting, but it got me to my goal of a degree (I then went on to get my PhD - whew). Interestingly, hustling with three jobs gave me the confidence that I would always be able to make it somehow. I haven't thought about that for a while -- thank you for the reminder. You are so much fun and so inspiring!

I always worked two or three jobs, waitressing (2 clubs) and administrative assistant, I went back to college got my associates, bachelors, and then masters in business administration....then once I got a promotion with my degree and became a financial institutions examiner, I only worked that one job. Once I took that job, my grandson came to live with me full time.....9 years later I retired! I receive a very small monthly stipend from my retirement, I also have my medical and prescription benefits for the rest of my life, and he is covered until he is 26. Now, I am a full time stay at home grandma, my income decreased from 4500 to 1653, and we are pinching every penny we can. We have our basic needs, but basically each other was what we truly needed. I am so blessed to have him! Now, we are learning to be frugal, but the saving part has not really happened yet as I am still working on the get out of debt part.....I am scheduled to have my vehicle and cc both paid off by January 2020 if I stick with it, i have tried several things and started an account to put coupon money and change into. It is intended to help defray Christmas costs and not use my credit card. Working on ways to put extra aside for the emergency fund has been challenging, and i continue to struggle with that.

When I first started my debt free journey I worked 3 jobs and my family&friends thought that I was insane😂 Naturally, I made alot of money for my snowball...but it took me away from family activities and such..which they didn't like. For them, it was too radical 😒 and they didn't understand... I had to dig deep within myself and learn to ignore the comments because I knew that this journey was going to be worth it in the end. I'm just now seeing this video! Lol. I learned a lot about you and your journey. You are an inspiration to many, I feel sure. Like you, I had several jobs in college. I worked as a newscaster for the college radio station, worked at the school newspaper, waited tables and even worked as a nail technician! That was before a license was required and OTJ training was acceptable, plus I grew up with a mom who was a hairdresser for over 45 years and pretty much lived at her shop for most of my school years. I had a wonderful boss who was hilarious and I learned so much! Fast forward to now..many years later, I have two jobs. First, I work in home health as a clinical social worker which is referral based. Secondly, I am a substitute teacher at my daughter's charter school. It has worked well working at the same school she attends, however since COVID-19 became an issue, I lost that income. My husband also was recently furloughed from his job of 17 years! I applied for a job with one of the large pharmaceutical companies that exist in the Raleigh, RTP area and Monday, I have my final interview as an Alzheimer's Senior Support Coordinator. I would still be helping people but not face to face. I'm now 54 and have only a small retirement account but a lot of that was because I was home, raising my kids and working part time for a lot of those years. My parents died when I was in college, both of them so I had no other physical support for childcare. You are truly blessed to have your parents and I know you are aware of that. I think we all make choices which seem the best at the time. Now though, I gotta hustle to make up for those lost years when I couldn't make as much money. I also am planning to take my licensing exam so I can do psychotherapy ( my lifelong goal) as a second job. The need is great and pay, is pretty good. Thank you for all you do! I've binge watched several vids of yours today! ♥️

Beth, both of your parents passed when you were in college! That's so hard, I'm so sorry. KICK SOME BUTT at that interview on Monday! They'd be lucky to have you! Ahh, your husband. After 17 years! Things are so tough. Thinking of you and optimistic because you are AWESOME!!!!!!!! Good luck on getting your license so you can do psychotherapy! (I was a Psych major and really appreciate psychology). Thank you for binging my vids! Hope you get tons of value out of them. THANK YOU for your support always Beth! Have a great weekend.

@@KateKaden thanks so much! I'm already so nervous about this interview. It's a virtual one which I've never done before and it's for a BIG, BIG company! Honestly, I've never received so many calls from headhunters prepping me for all these interviews. I've never really sweated interviews before, but now, I am! :( Yes, both parents passed away 4 months apart. My last year of undergrad was unreal but it was important to me and my mom, that I graduate. I didn't walk during graduation bc it was too emotional but when I got my master's a few years later, I did. It's been 30 years..holy cow!, since I lost them but they live on with me in spirit. Hope you also have a great weekend and btw, Kaden is just a doll! Enjoy your time during these younger years..before the teenage years:) One thing I would love to see a video on, is how to offset spending during those teenage years when everything they want and need costs SO much more and hand me downs aren't really as cool. We thrift shop for a lot of clothing and I'm blessed to have an understanding daughter who actually enjoys shopping at thrift stores but I think her perception of " us" is that we are poor bc I am frugal and thrifty. I don't know if other viewers would appreciate feedback on this issue but I'm sure I'm not alone. Small things like saying "no" to the 4.00 box of cereal and getting the generic, I think imprints things in children's minds. Sometimes, I do buy that item she wants at the market bc it's important kids also get something they want and at 14, my daughter isn't really old enough to comprehend the long term effects of being frugal. Just wondering if you have any you tube friends that might have spoken to this topic? Thanks again for the reply and enjoy your weekend. Hopefully, it's getting warmer in Maine!:)

So the $100, I gave my kiddos each $20, they are going thru a ruff time with car trouble and a few other things, they have not had money to get back and forth to work, so I decided to give them something a little to help them out. I used $31.35 at the grocery store and splurged and bought gallons of tea, some cheese wiz and a box of cheese steaks, and milk, and I spent money to purchase me and my grandson a baked sub. It was so awesome to be able to do that and we haven't eaten out for a while. Up until 2009 I always worked two or three jobs. When I got my masters degree and got a much higher paying position - then I never needed to work the second job. At that time I took on the job of raising my grandson full-time when he was 3. He is now 13! But, I am now retired so I can raise him, be here when he comes from and goes to school, and make him home cooked meals and not have to leave him for extended periods like I did when I worked. Most of the time things are tight, but this little extra helped us have just a little fun. I might do it again, but it will be a while,,,,i am worn out from the 3 year old, and 13 month old......bigtime!

Teri! You are such a good mama! All that hard work and you gave it to your kiddos. It's nice to have some to give. Love it. A 3 year old and 13 month old? I'm exhausted just thinking about it! But I bet they are adorable and though exhausting, I bet they are so fun! Love reading your comments as always:) You're doing awesome!

I took on 2 extra part time jobs a few years back and it actually cost me $. It put me in a different tax bracket and my return literally went down the same amt or more everytime i entered a new w-2. My child support decreased and my child care increased. It cost me a couple thousand dollars overall that year.

I didn't know you were a dancer/choreographer - one of my kids is waaay into dance. I always have two jobs and sometimes three. I love the idea of adding jobs to add income, but my problem has been that I love the "side" jobs so much that I wish I could just do them. 🤣 Working while being the primary parent has been the best thing and also the most challenging thing for me - I really hear you on having to constantly adapt based on kids' developmental needs.

I have one full-time job right now, but I'm starting my Master's program next week (paid for through my work) so if I didn't have that coming up I would totally be getting multiple jobs. It's challenging getting a second job having kids, but I'm excited to see what other avenues of income I can find! Love your content! My son is your son's age :) I'm finding alot of things in common with you!!

Hi Kate, When I was in college, I had three jobs, one full time job, two part time jobs, plus I had classes three days a week, my daughter was 4, I was burning the candle at both ends. The downside was the guilt I felt not spending enough time with my daughter. I did that for a year until I had paid off several bills, Thank God it was only temporary. Edit: I was an administrative assistant/bookkeeper as well.
@KateKaden5 жыл бұрын

I have four jobs, although none are full time. I'm a medical social worker for two home health agencies and I also am a certified substitute teacher and sub at my daughter's charter school. Lastly, I am a local seller of things I no longer need in my house. My stuff is nice and well taken care of so it's been fairly easy to sell the goods I have thought about a MLM but that thought scares me:).

I make baked high protein empanadas for a local Deli that focuses on healthy food for my side job. want to expand it, but don't know how to go about it. I really only need to pay off my car and my husband's car and a little CC debt. I should be able to do it but I seem to keep spending more than I have each month. Paying some debt off would help.

I have one job right now, but I get a lot of overtime. I'm actually conflicted about getting a job in my field because I might get paid slightly more, but I won't get the over time. Hey Sophia! Great questions! So I don't let anything conflict with my "main job". My normal day is 8am-4pm. Everything else is outside of those hours:) So if I am choreographing I can only commit to after 4pm. I normally work on KZfaq in the early morning or in the evening:) The only boss I luckily have is for the main job. KZfaq, dance, and Mary Kay, I make my own hours:)
