Yep I finally broke down after looking at them for several years. I really didn't want the 85 well palette so when I saw he came out with a 64 well with lots of insert choices I just had to get it!
Don't worry I won't make you sit through filling my weeks. Ugh, that took me hours and hours! Palette at www.robax.com

Thanks for sharing Sharon....I always enjoy your videos... I too succumbed to the Robax palette. I purchased the smaller (with big wells). I cut two circles - 15” and 18” - too see which would fit on my desk - alas my desk was just not big enough for the 18”. But I still love it 😊. I purchased the ceramic insert too...can recommend that - doesn’t bead etc. have fun with your new acquisition! Stay safe

Cor blimey missus! $152 for a palette? You do know you could get 120 bottles of Sam Adams for that? Almost a month's worth of beer! Priorities, priorities, I know. LOL But in all seriousness, that looks like a superb way for you to bring together all your colours so that they're always close at hand whenever you're painting. It looks as if it'll prove to be an excellent buy for you in the long run. By the way, has anyone told Pat yet that he'll be making you a wooden stand for the palette? The things we hubbies get roped into ..... but I mustn't complain, because Mrs Two-Legs is working at our friends' flower shop this week (to help them cope with the Mothers Day rush) and I'm doing baby-sitting duties all day with Four-Legs. So, as a little thank you, today she brought me home a bouquet of flowers (Gerbera and Alstroemeria) together with a 12-pack of Negra Modelo beer (almost on a par with Sam Adams). Anyway. too much rambling on my part - thanks for the video and look forward to seeing the palette in action soon. Best wishes, Brian.

Sharon, I want to thank you for all of the videos you provide for free. I understand that many you tubers rely on donations ie patreon, PayPal, on and on to earn a living and justify their content. It’s refreshing to watch someone who genuinely just wants to share what they’ve learned with others. It’s a beautiful thing. I understand how much effort goes into making these videos and the hours it takes from filming to editing. I appreciate you and all you give.

i got the 85 with the the 41 insert - and love it. i like seeing all colors when planning project. i just got a 2nd 41 insert - so that i can pull colors for project as it will take less space.. Also get your label maker out - i labeled the wells - putting labels on the rim - it works. i will admit to coveting the new 24 sloping well palette.. but can't justify it (yet) and who has just 24 colors? have had it for a year now and still get excited bringing it out to play. hope you enjoy yours.
@SharonCullenArt
@SharonCullenArt 4 жыл бұрын
I know! Me too. I wish that he made a sloping well palette in the 64 style. But that’s ok, because I tend to mix puddles on a porcelain palette anyway. I didn’t realize how large the 85 pans are. I know before he made those inserts people were jamming half pans in them so I thought oh no! Not for me. I damage my brushes too easily on half pans and I am so against dipping a tip into paint unless it is real soft or has a puddle in it. You’re the second one to tel me about the label maker. I will have to purchase one.

No I haven’t updated yet because it has only beers a month or a bit longer. I am liking it though. Over time I am getting to know where my colors are. The only thing is that I do prefer a shallower well and these are very deep but they are large. I do like it though. I keep it on a TV tray next to my chair and desk so I just reach beside me, or take colors out that I am using, or load up a porcelain palette with my colors. All work just fine.

@@SharonCullenArt he has a square one thats a bit smaller but still hold enough colors, and you can buy inserts to add more, so if i remember correctly i could have ~70 colors in a 14 inch pallette

I just stumbled upon your video since I just started with watercolor and really enjoy it and I need a solution for all my colors. But I am in Europa and ordering from Robax is crazy expensive. Can you tell me if they have carroussels with smaller pans? Thank you for this great video!

Nice palette! I was so wishing you would record the entire process of filling your palette and telling us what colors you use and what you chose to put in the palette. I love to hear what paint other people like to use, which brand, and why. I don’t have the need to buy one of these palettes because I do all of my painting sitting on my bed. It is too painful for me to do it in a chair at my desk. I have a big water bucket with 3 wells and it doesn’t tip over. Then I have my paint palette and a ceramic mixing palette. I tried to buy one of those boards that you showed from Etsy with the holes drilled out to hold a pill bottle of water. I had it ready to order but they wanted $50 for shipping! 😳 That’s too much in my opinion so I asked my husband if he would just make me one. Anyway, I have a good setup just sitting on my bed Indian style. I turn on a movie and paint away. 😊 Thank you for the video! Have you started meeting with your urban sketching group yet?
@SharonCullenArt

Oh my gosh! Are you outside the US? That is ridiculous! Use MDF panel. It is stiffer and much nicer. You could paint it if you don’t want to work on the panel and if your husband has a hole cutter he can put a hole in for a cup. But you might prefer your bucket system at home anyway. I am sorry to hear you are struggling with pain also. I have just stepped down on my pain meds and it has been a huge struggle the last few weeks. I am hoping to feel better soon.

No, I live in Wyoming. The board cost $50 and the shipping was $50. Too much! Thank you for the video and the suggestions! 😊👍. My husband will use his hole cutter. I’m sorry you are hurting also. It’s a constant battle. CBD cream has really helped me. That with the combination of many other things helps. For the board - I wanted to get it so that when we take our camper to various places I can sit in my camp chair and paint. The board would be nice with the water in the medicine bottle. Hubby will fix me up. I love to watercolor! It’s one of my great joys in life. I love your videos and look forward to each one. I love your beautiful studio also! 🌷😊💕

Sharon Cullen Art I do indeed have the 85 well palette! It turns out it is very hard to know which colors are which... I always have to refer to a key I made with the colors and it just seems so onerous. Too many colors in one place. I thought it would be a good idea for our mountain home so I didn’t need to bring colors back and forth..... I’ve hardly used it and use a small palette instead.

boy that is a massive palette. I'm always confused how to spell that word Two L's and two T's? one L two T's, Two L's one T or one of each? So I'll do it the way you did. Is that plastic? It sounds like it. I don't even have that many paints. I'm looking for a smaller one, maybe one that holds 24 half pans, but maybe can hold a 3rd row, and a smaller one that holds maybe half pans that are 12-14 in number. The Portable painter looks interesting. Is that a new intro, Pretty elephant!

It is nice that it can be removed. The small palette in the center can also be used on the Susan. It is more versatile that way. Why do you want it permanently attached? It kind of locks in place if that is what you’re worried about.

@@SharonCullenArt I just got mine yesterday and am filling it now, but my thought was to have it be mobile, as I don’t have a dedicated studio or area to paint (I am taking over the dining room table!) so I need to move it a lot right now. I guess it would be better for me to have clips to lick it on and then just unlatch them. But I’ll try it out for awhile. I may need to jury-rig something to keep them temporarily together!
