A Bacterial Bloom or Cloudy fish tank water can happen in newly setup tanks as well as established reef aquariums. What do you do about Cloudy fish tank water and Bacterial Blooms. In this video I talk about the surprise I saw when I came home to see that the Reef Tank had cloudy water.

your right just happened to. bloom no oxygen. saved one fish. added more wave maker and air stone never new bout oxygen untill some told me

I’m glad you solved it - but next time you think something is affecting your tank, I would do more than a 10% water change, 90% of what was affecting the tank is still there.

I don’t think 100% water change is needed.

@@thedogwoods5716 nothing is needed. But if you think something is affecting and killing your corals and fish why only do 10%? 90% of whatever bad stuff is still there. do 50% or more, then you’ve cut whatever it is by half, thereby giving your tank a fighting chance.

Those blooms can be tricky glad you solved it. How are the fish dealing? Saw the sailfin was looking a little skinny.

Thanks, yeah the fish are doing well. Everyone made it through. Sailfin is good as well, I'll have to up the feeding for her a bit and add a little more variety. Thanks for checking out the video.

Uv sterilizer works better for bacteria blooms than activated carbon imo

UV is definitely another option that can help for sure. There are some micro organisms that it removes that may be beneficial for the tank as well. But definitely check out aquachar as it is a bit different than activated carbon. Thanks for adding uv as an option and for checking out the video, I appreciate it.

IMO, this was a spawning event and not a bacteria bloom.

Came here looking for answers because I have a heterotroph bloom in my nano. On a side note, how do you acclimate those monster size trochus snails? I really want trochus but all 10 I ordered died within 2 days when I did a temp acclimation and dropped them in (as per the vendors instruction)
