The Cawag Hexalogy is a hiking endurance challenge located in the Cawag mountain range, which is part of the Subic Bay Freeport Zone in the province of Zambales, Philippines. It involves summiting six different mountains in a single trek, which is why it's called a 'hexalogy,' with 'hexa-' referring to the number six and '-logy' denoting a type of study or collection. This hiking adventure is known for its stunning views, diverse landscapes, and the physical challenges it presents. Trekkers experience a range of terrains, including mostly open trails with limited grasslands, fewer forests, and minimal shade. The Cawag Hexalogy is considered a strenuous hike due to the distance covered and the elevation gain, so it's often attempted by more experienced hikers seeking a tough, rewarding outdoor experience. Hikers embarking on this adventure should be well-prepared.
MUST HAVE:
- Water (Bring as much as you can, 8L is not enough)
- Food (Bring as much as you can)
- Fruits (These can help you if you run out of water)
- Umbrella & Hat (You will need these to protect yourself from the intense heat of the sun)
- Headlamp (Necessary for the early hike, and in case you finish late at night)
- Trekking pole (There are a lot of ups and downs, especially on Mt. Dayungan)
- Other gear
- Yourself (Prepared, well-rested, and in good physical and mental condition)
Correction: The water source on Mt. Naulaw is the SECOND WATER SOURCE. The first water source is at Kawayanan, where you can refill before resuming your trek to Mt. Balingkilat.
