This makes TOTAL sense! Just like in English, we spend the younger years teaching sounds / phonics, then slowly move into building words with those sounds. Learning vocabulary is important, but only after understanding the sounds & how they build on each other to create those words. Thanks for your knowledge on this!

Hi! Yes, exactly! It is the same in Spanish. It is really important if we want the kid not just to memorize, but to really learn the language. When we start from the beginning, from the root it’s not only important for speaking, but to actually retain and not to forget what was already learned and if forgotten easy to remember back if you have learned from the root. 💗💗🌺🌸

Just speaking to them in spanish teaches them the language. My mother speaks another language and she just spoke it all the time around me as a young child and that's how I learned. I can't speak it well but I can 100% understand and can speak it if I need to.

Thank you. As a Spanish native speaker I know Spanish...but with my situation, I learned English in Kindergarten at age 6. My English is now better than Spanish, however I am fluent in speech and I can fully understand it....and I read it slowly. But when it comes to teaching it to my daughter there are some foundational things that I don't know how to explain. I have been searching for a good Spanish curriculum and I haven't been impressed. Thank you for sharing your resources and method. I am also Puerto Rican and it is important that I teach my daughter (she's motivated to learn).

Great video…I am a kindergarten teacher and your principal teaching method is how I teach my students to read ✨ Through my own Spanish learning journey I began teaching myself in the same manner, along with a lot of listening videos of various Spanish speakers while also adding vocabulary. Love 💕 your content ✨

Thank you ! That is how is being working with my kid, starting from the beginning with the sounds, vowels, a lot of listening and repetition always adding little by little something to keep their interest. Going to different places where they can interact with Spanish speakers, getting their ears use to the sound of the letters is a good way to get them to practice as well. Blessings !🌼🌺

This information right here!! 🤌🏼 Thank you; I’m Puerto Rican 3rd gen and it has been hard to teach the language even though I can speak fluently. All resources have been different accents makes it hard to keep the culture. I have done basics with them but as you said they forget 😅. I’m hopeful with doing the actual vowels and phonics first this will help our up coming school year.

Thank you for your detailed guide. My son will be starting second grade in a new state where Spanish is being taught, starting in kindergarten. We don’t speak Spanish at home and my son never learned it at school. I ordered a highly rated book from Amazon and was so overwhelmed when I received it. It is just exercise pages for children. I was so discouraged that I would not be able to help him before starting school in Autumn. Your video has encouraged me to at least try, and to start from the real beginning (and not from vocabulary!). Thank you!

Don’t be discourage continue doing it. Start with the basics, vowel sounds, blending and alphabet after your kid knows that start with some songs in Spanish, short songs easy to learn that rhyme, but always reviewing the vowels, sounds and alphabet . Kids LOVE… songs special if they are short and sweet. Follow with something simple as well like days of the week and months. For games one my son likes a lot is I spy in Spanish. Hope that helps. 🌺❤️☺️😉

Thank you for this content. Te pregunto: I raised my son in Mexico for 3 years when he was a toddler up until he was 5 and half. Then went through a separation and my ex moved him back to the US where he basically lost all of his Spanish. How do I get him back into it?

Sorry it took me all this time to answer, but sometimes the messages don’t show. I will start from the beginning with the phonetical sounds, blending sounds, vowel sounds and the alphabet you can have your kids singing songs. After that is done you can start introducing more like the days of the week, greetings and reading. I am not a fan or advocate for kids to start learning a language without going through the basics, meaning learning just by repeating words without them understanding the meaning or how to use those words. I use La Cartilla Fonética which i show in this video because it introduces sounds, blending the alphabet and reading , but you can add your own materials and ideas. I will be creating another video soon. ❤🌺

Is this book neutral for all Latino Americans? Because Spanish can be so different. Like for example the word quesadilla or pastel can be two different things in different countries. Or just the words used in general can be different.

Hi! I did saw a few that are a little bit of a slang, meaning words that in other latin countries will probably mean something different. I would say like 2 or three very little. Here is a link of a flip through of La Cartilla Fonética kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rdaboLR2uM6qhHk.html
