Whats exactly is the benefit of setting the main deco like that, you say more coverage but can you also get more o better speed ?

I have the same configuration as you did. But then the second deco has an issue when I connect the wire. They are configured as an access point, The second deco doesn't operate correctly, when I disconnect de wire it connects itself to the first deco in wireless mode, the thing is. I want them wired both for better connection, any ideas?

So I've heard stacking access points, meaning the main 1 is in the living room and my 2nd 1 is in the office on the 2nd floor directly above the living room would be a bad idea. Does that still apply with 6e routers?

No that's fine. In fact when you go through the app setup it gives you a template to choose from for your specific home structure.

Is the router in your system - the modem/router form your ISP? Im redoing our network ( fibre just came to neighbourhood) and currently have a bunch of older DECOs. Im running cat6 to various points in the house - and wondering what router I want to put before the switch in the basement network cabinet??

That is SO funny you ask. I also just got fiber set up in the neighborhood. So as of right now I no longer have that router because I had to return it to the previous ISP. To answer your question, my setup has changed significantly because TP Link recently sent me a 2.5gbps switch - That video will be up in the not too distant future. So I now have the modem going to the deco, then from the deco to the 2.5 gbps switch.

@@SystematicHardware Awesome.. I'm the middle of finishing my basement - and planning for the fibre. Currently using cable internet run up to the ground floor for modem and Deco #1. That will chnage: Have a spot for a main network box in basement (where the fibre comes in) for themodem and/or router, a switch, and running cat6 + a couple Moca Adapters (to use some coax runs to the 2nd floor) as back haul for my Deco mesh units - this is really helpful - had not heard of changing the mode on the deco(s) to access point only mode. Very interested to see how you set-it up..

@@JDavidGoodman1 Thank you - Yeah AP mode is definitely a viable option for our type of network setup

I have a question- I currently am using an Asus TUF AX5400 router, I am thinking of purchasing these XE75 pro Deco's. So the question is can I hardwire these Deco units to my Asus router and use the Deco's as Access points, like you have done in this video? Also, is it true that you can't change the Wi-Fi channels on these Deco units?
@SystematicHardware
@SystematicHardware Жыл бұрын
Yes you can use them in access point mode with your asus router. As for the wifi channels, i'll have to find out and get back to you

Try factory resting the tplink deco that is showing red there is a pin hole at the bottom of the tplink and it says reset use a paper clip and press and hold the rest button for 10 secs and you have factory reset the deco

If I have a 2in1 router/modem from my existing ISP, do I have to setup the Deco nodes in Access Point mode?
@SystematicHardware
@SystematicHardware Жыл бұрын
Yes or disable routing on the 2in1 placing it in bypass mode.

No. You can have 2 routers. It's a choice not yes or no

@@rvinnewbie3117 In this case, Access Point mode is better. If you have the second router(Double NAT), devices connected to it can visit the Internet as well. But if you have some devices work like a server, such as NAS, network printer, or a PC share data via SMB/FTP. Devices connected to the first router cannot access those connected to the second router.

Do you even need to hardwire the second deco?

Not needed. They can connect wirelessly

@@SystematicHardware I know this is probably counter productive, but I can just go straight from the spectrum router into a deco and set it up like you did in this video right?

Oh ok. Let me look. I just brought my house out in a Rural area. I have a tmobile internet modem that I pay $50 a month for and I pay for the Rural internet service like $67 a month. I have that Old tp link ac1200 deco mesh that I never hooked up. Brand New. It's old but I gotta figure out way TONIGHT to hook it up for the meantime till I get an up to date system like what your talking about in your video. Yeahh I see, it covers 5500 sq ft. I don't have much going on but cameras and TV's a few laptops. No gaming. So that my work bro. I appreciate your assistance. Giving a thumbs 👍 an sub to your channel captain.
