Amen! I just subscribed and I'm proud to say that I'm privileged to meet another farmer that in these uncertain times your not afraid to grow $3 corn. In Ohio, we are going to grow more soybeans and less corn, 900 acres of farm ground. 200 acres and 35-40 hay, 70 acres wheat, and 20-25 acres oats. You just got to trust God with everything.

I have sold more corn in my 45 years of farming under $3 then over. You don't survive by owning $500,000 combines and $300,000 tractors that's for sure!
@Thomasfarmstn
@Thomasfarmstn 5 ай бұрын
You might survive if you “own” $500k combines and $300k tractors. Most don’t “own” them, the bank does. I like making money and not payments though I have a few. What some are not getting about this video is it’s not a bout $3 corn or $8 corn this year. It’s about hedging a bet.

Thanks for sharing the video. I really enjoy watching them. Glad you had a good time and made it home safely from the show. Yes sir you are right about Case IH making them ugly. IH had good looking tractors and Case was not always a good looking tractor. I bought a Maxxum 125 over a year ago it's a 2013 newest one I have since the other ones are IH tractors I was looking at Massey Ferguson also I have to say they look nice and the cabs are layed out well. They also have some steel in them for weight as tractors now days don't have any weight in them till they are 150+ horsepower compared to the old ones. God Bless Y'all.

Flotation tires on that bale wagon will keep it from sinking into wet fields or compacting the soil as much, not really a design to avoid tire blow out problems. Can you rig up "dually" hubs on that wagon? Then you'll run like a gravel train and carry everything. Hardest working tractor on our farm was a Massey Ferguson, even though we had other brands with bigger horsepower. I have that tractor now, it's seventy years old, plows snow and field alike.

If you catch Jon Stevens Maple Grove Farms channel, he has some videos on the strip tilling he's doing where he cut his fertilizer costs more than sixty percent. Another farmer Rick Clark in the western part of the mid-west is using cover crops, planting into them standing no-till, then roller crimper after corn/bean emergence, then goes to harvest. He doing over five thousand acres selling into food companies as organic (better prices than commodity corn). Search for him on youtube, no channel but he gives good presentations on how he does it. Erin Silva in Wisconsin is a university researcher doing that way but mostly focused on beans. Because I don't have a no-till style planter, I'm mixing both systems running strips and then planting corn in the strips all through standing rye. Watch some videos and do some experimenting on smaller acres.
@Thomasfarmstn
@Thomasfarmstn 5 ай бұрын
I don’t know how long you been watching me but I can grow good yields on corn. I have my farms sampled on grids and the fertilizer variable rated. Big savings that way on fertilizer. The only way I see strip till as an advantage is nitrogen application. Yes I have cover crops. No I don’t crimp them and have great results. I don’t watch KZfaq to learn how to farm because every area is different. I have watched John Stevens and I have seen some messes he has had. Not saying you need to watch me to learn how to farm but John isn’t one to watch either.
