As a self taught React developer, I know how hard it is to be a developer, I am a frontend. Starting with Html, Css and Js was a good starting point for me, then with React I added more power to my projects. I think it is important to experiment, create projects and understand which language or library we like. There are no shortcuts, no recipes, I think it takes a lot of willpower, and the care of many aspects, which also go beyond the code. Great advice and great video 😊

Very interesting video Pooja. I have to say, when I learned how to code, I couldn't stop. I was completely addicted, though I hardly write any code now. I think what really helped me learn was trying to get to the answer for a financial markets model and nothing other than learning to code would get me there. So personally I think besides all of your excellent tips, it really helps to construct the end product in your mind and fall in love with you. You either end up a developer or a Product Manager/CEO, and both are fantastic outcomes.

I would say a own modular Project like a game is one of the most efficient way to learn programming (even C++) with a lot less pain, than solve abstract problems. For example, when you created a world and you see there is a problem with your performance, because your object handling has a bad algorithm, you will learn more effective that your current algorithm is bad and you will improve it. Solve coding puzzles can be very frustrating especially for beginners. To understand for example a 2D array as a world map is more intuitive than a matrix of values.

I am in my early 30s and looking to make a career switch into software engineering. I already have a decent job but the work-from-home/remote aspect of tech is something I desire so much that I am willing to completely transition fields at this age. Now, the youtube tech community says that the 'self-taught' route is viable. Taking their word for it I started learning last month in June. I have learned html and css, and I am about a week into javascript. It seems easy so far but I feel like I am barely scratching the surface ...........

Great content. I had one question how does one succeed as an intern. Sure I know how to program, but every company uses a different tech stack, and getting familiar with those technologies also takes time as well. I feel like the more you learn the more you realize that there is so much that you don't know.
@TheDemonThorn
@TheDemonThorn Жыл бұрын
i'd say just try to be familiar with the requirements they have on their job posting, if you can make it past the interview you have nothing to really worry about. one thing i learned while interning is that the company doesn't expect a lot from you they more so expect you to use the oppurtunity to learn. even as a new hire there will be a span of time where you spend a lot of your time just learning without crazy expectations.

If you want to make Android apps, you should prioritize Kotlin not Java. Most jobs will want you to know Kotlin over Java. Java knowledge is helpful and you should familiarize yourself with it.
