We've seen how the Buffalo Bicycles are used by schoolchildren and entrepreneurs alike in Zambia, but just how are they made?
Join us for a factory tour in this Assembly point in Lusaka as we find out how these bikes from World Bicycle Relief are put together, and Dan Lloyd has a go at assembling one himself.
If you'd like to contribute captions and video info in your language, here's the link 👍 gcn.eu/ty

We're not allowed to question the cost and build for these? Will be disappeared to some gulag? The corporation is non-profit 3 star out of five rating. Only 85% goes to the purpose The company manufacturing is for profit. Seems like considerable room for betterment in several; areas.

It's nice to see how bicycles can change an entire region by helping people learn, do chores and also help the local economy. So more potential of change than the car based economy.

The people had zillions of chances to learn and do chores long time ago. Bikes are not solution for their true independence and self sufficiency, though provide a nice touch to the lifestyle. ageconsearch.umn.edu/bitstream/134919/2/fris-1966-06-02-372.pdf

Get paid a few days before Christmas. I am 100% donating the 95 quid for one of these bikes. Bicycles definitely change lives. Fantastic work GCN highlighting the incredible work of World Bicycle Relief. I'm in tears watching everyone of these videos. There's is no other means of transport that could be anywhere near as much use to these people as a bike. Inspiring

Where do they make the frames? Surely that would contribute to the local economy. Also (and worrying):- Plain nuts and bolts in the vibration capital of Africa. Surely there should be nyloc or Threadlock. I'm old enough to remember UK bikes being built with plain nuts and shaking apart.

Its a single speed, so there should rather be a simple chain tensioner. Ideally the user should adjust the rear wheel according to a chain stretch over time, but i bet they ride till the chain drops and its no fun in the middle of nowhere without wrenches.
