I am sorry, but you heard the saying "the grass is the greenier on the otherside",but autism diagnosis means black stain on your back which they can discrimnate against you. The diagnosis isn't as worth it as you think. I will try to remove my ASD diagnosis from my record.

My son was diagnosed (?) today, but it was so quick and the doc didn't leave time for questions. She skimmed over the CASD that I filled out, tallied it up, and said he had it. No discussion, nothing in depth. Shouldn't there be more to it than that?

The diagnosis of Autism is looking for apparent symptoms that indicate the presence of the condition. The diagnosis of Autism is not looking for causes of Autism. It might be fruitful to look at possible causes of Autism to sustain an approach of prevention.

@@paulocymbaum1566 How can you know there is a genetic cause if you don't know about the actual genetic cause? That question is addressing your presumption that there must be a genetic cause because there is a lot of genetics we don't know about. Why not look at the vast and knowable field of environmentally caused possibilities? They are knowable, identifiable and quantifiable. Overlooking these and going straight to "we must just cope until we can genetically design people" is astoundingly misdirected.

@@paulocymbaum1566 Your grammar is bad enough that I don't know what you mean. But I will try to answer. No, I do not suggest eugenics. YOU are suggesting eugenics. Genetic design of humans is part of eugenics. It is an approach to population control. I am suggesting that possible environmental causes be investigated. This will include environmental pollution, social drugs, medical drugs or any other contributing factor that can be thought of.

And I don't know what's the point for me to talk with entitled know-it-all aholes who says shit like "Eugenics is part of Genetic Engineering". Plato was right, I guess if you think you know it all, you end up thick as a brick. Eugenics is an ideology on racial supremacy. That's all. No direct relation with genetic engineering.

@@williamadams4855 it’s definitely difficult to be autistic and one may have moment of wanting it to go away so they can be neurotypical/allistic. But i also believe that stems from deep rooted internalized ableism. Being autistic is not bad, difficult yes, but it is NOT a bad thing. it is NOT going to ruin ones life. I think some people may want to because they believe something may be wrong with them (not sure, can’t really speak for others). Not sure i could answer that unfortunately. i think it’s entirely individual. I am bothered by the "spectrum". And that the first consultation is done on parents description of the child, when I know personally that parents self diagnose their kids from social media posts. Then they repeat that info back to the therapist. The therapist also has incentives to confirm the diagnoses. I beg everyone do not diagnose your child with spectrum autism. If they actually have autism Temple Granden level then it will be apparent. Outside of that just treat it as their personality. Who actually gets to regulate normal? These therapists that are a dime a dozen?; educated in an increasingly lower standard educational system?

Fun fact: most Autism diagnoses questionnaires are filled out without the patient present. Autism is VASTLY overdiagnosed (as well as ADHD). When a teacher has a problem student that they need out of the classroom for behavior issues, they have only one way to get them out of the classroom... get them enrolled in Special Ed. The school doesn't want their test scores to cound towards the school aggregate. The parents don't wanna be blamed and told they are sh!tty parents. And the student themself don't want to admit that their behavior problems are from a lack of discipline or stupidity. So what's the way to make all of these people happy? Well... the Special Ed teacher makes a diagnosis stick (such as Autism and ADHD). This means the student doesn't have to be present for the diagnosis (a Special Ed teacher, psychologist, or doctor can make the diagnosis without the child present). This means the primary teacher can teach, the school doesn't need to worry about them dragging down the school's testing (and therefore funding) the parents don't have to admit they screwed up, and the kid doesn't have to admit they lack discipline and/or smarts (they can just say that they are "unable to focus" instead of saying they are dumb). Sorry, but the truth is... social contagion is real. Did you know that Tourrete's has seen a VERY significant spike... and that spike can be pinpointed to people who watch Tourrete's influencers on Social Media? Children are impressionable, flexible, and don't like accountability. Psychologists need to get it into their skulls that often times, learning disability is COMPLETELY INDISTINGUISHABLE from a lack of discipline... and don't get me started on Munchausen's Syndrome by proxy.
