I'm in awe of Purdy. He reads defenses like a fifth year starter, goes through his progressions quickly, makes split second decisions and has the accuracy, touch and arm strength to get the ball to where it needs to be. All while 300lb men are trying to freaking kill him. It's nothing short of amazing to me. I've been Faithful since I was a child in the 60's and this is one of the most complete SF squads offensively and defensively I've ever witnessed. Stay healthy guys! Go Niners

His deep balls can be questionable, BUT this is literally his first season playing basically. Like he hasn't had much play time compared to others at his level. But the BIGGEST pro about Purdy is that he won't lose you the game. Jimmy G literally was guaranteed to do something stupid.

@@duncanbrugler525I like him... and he has a lot of upside currently because he's doing so well at such an early start of career. Yeah, it must have been the few games I've seen that he struggled with the deep ball. Not necessarily by not reaching the guy, but mostly overshooting him or just outside his reach.

Joe Montana won the MVP in 1989. the numbers he put up are just about what Purdy has been putting up this season, even surpassing some of Joe’s numbers. oh and BTW, Joe had Jerry Rice, John Taylor, Roger Craig, Brent Jones, Tom Rathman, a stout O-line, and a top 5 defense…..playing in Bill Walsh’s SYSTEM. i actually hope Purdy doesn’t win the MVP. if he does, when it comes time to renegotiate his contract (end of 24-25 season), his asking price will be $5-10M higher, which would take a huge bite out of the Niners cap space.

I don't know that MVP is going to make one bit of difference w/ Brock's contract - he's going to break the bank... Toward the end of last year I told my buddy, "It makes me squeamish to even say this but you know who Brock reminds me of? Montana... Neither the strongest arm nor the fleetest feet but a fantastic pocket presence, elite vision, very accurate passes, and... cool as a cucumber..."
@rokthor7032
@rokthor7032 7 ай бұрын
I can see Purdy pulling a Tom Brady I'm his first couple contracts and take a little bit less in order to keep the team together. Purdy isn't anything close to greedy and is 100% a team first QB. It all depends on who is up to get paid at the same time as Purdy. The amazing thing is we have 3 more seasons to see how it goes before it matters.
@URSoDead2Me
@URSoDead2Me 7 ай бұрын
@@OldBatNurse I've thought the same exact thing. If you watch his throws, a lot of the time, the receiver isn't "open" yet but Brock just senses they're going to be and has the ball headed that direction. A lot of good past and present passers would have waited another second or two to throw the ball which makes a huge difference in the pros. Brock's arm strength is strong enough for the throws he wants to make, his feet are fast enough to buy him time or escape and his vision is absolutely amazing, as I've already described. It would be something to see him win a Super Bowl.

@@rokthor7032Maybe not as low as Brady. If he keeps playing at a high level, I could see Lynch give him a big signing bonus come contract extension but only make around 30-35M/yr. Not as big as other qbs but enough to be the highest paid player on the team (as is the norm for franchise qbs). They could also structure his deal to be like Mahomes where the money can be moved around as needed

Fantastic analysis by Patrick Mahomes. I mean you sound like him. But Brock Purdy really reminds me of the GOAT with his throws. Brady was doing this for like 22y. It was insane how good Purdy is also. The mind is so sharp and can analyze and read Defense so fast and execute so fast in like 2-3s after multiple reads. Compare to someone like Fields or Lamar or Allen or Hurts and they're nowhere near this level - they use their feet immediately after 1-2 reads because of pressure or indecisiveness or don't know what to do so they don't trust throwing. So they run. And it worked in NCAAF but it doesn't in pro NFL. You really have to know how to QB. Without it, you will do well a game here or there but you will never be like Brady. Only Mahomes is one who can execute like this and run like Lamar.
