Correction:-- That Chinese Woman Said Shi yuan and (Shi) means Ten yuan and that Cross Symbol also means 10 yuan but in translation her pronunciation was a bit weak she said (si) yuan which means 4

Agree. The seller didn’t rip off the buyer. On the fridge magnet's display board is written 10 yuan on the top. Seller spoke clearly and perfectly in Mandarin and repeatedly made the cross symbol meaning 10 with her fingers. The adjacent black board has prices in yuan for her other merchandise for sale. He didn’t even bother to learn the numbers 1 to 10 but relied completely on his phone’s voice translator to English but is obviously not perfect. In India, there are 320 languages - how did he get by in his native India?

The sales woman gestured a cross which meant 10 and also said Shi Yuan (10 Yuan) when asked. But when speaking into the phone she said Si Yuan which translated into 4 Yuan. Most southern Chinese can’t pronounce curled up tones so they often pronounce Shi as Si. In this case 10 became 4. You’ve experienced the same problem many Chinese faced when traveling to other parts of China.

@@young_padawan Yes she was being honest with him, 10 was written on the board also and the lady answered 10 by clearly showing the cross sign (just not recognized by foreigners I guess), it's her pronounciation that makes it sound like 4 with phone translator. People live in Southern part of China often mis-pronounce 4 as 10 and this even became a famous joke for the netizen in China。

I cried so much in Europe right now while seeing my hometown in your video😭 I am from this village! and we used to have some foreign tourists (because of the famous mountain Huangshan aka "yellow mountain"😂). But these years I think fewer and fewer foreingers visit china, and even fewer will visit my city -- foreigners just have too many choices other than a small historical village 😂 I came across your channel by accident, and didn't expect you to visit Hongcun and Tunxi Old Street at all. I really appreciate your work, and i will watch them from time to time whenever I feel nostalgia😢 In my heart Huangshan city is really a nice place of interest, very clean and beautiful, with well preserved history and unique natural views. But most native people don't know English tbh, and it's a quite backwards city in China haha. Thus, the transportation system there is complex and old fashion. I was even shocked seeing you made your way to explore it without knowing Mandarin. You are among the best🫡

shí yuan=十元=10 Yuan, that is why she made the cross which is similar to the Chinese "十"（10）, the transtlator mistranslate it as sì yuan which is 4 yuan. In some province like Sichuang, they pronounce very similar of ten and four, even Chinese could misunderstood.

@@mikeliu-te3vk 我做过旅游规划设计，怎么说呢，这个算是一种基本政策吧，虽然不像普通村子那么普及，但是还是很多。这种的在中国最常见的形式就是农家乐，和民宿，只是一种民众给予一些喜欢乡村的人提供的服务，整个的视频里你没看到成堆的旅行团之类的专业商业旅行。比如淄博的烧烤，有的人就跑到乡下去找一个老大爷自己院形式吃。跟保护真的没啥关系，真的保护的是一些很著名的历史遗迹或者文化遗产才有可能，像是北京的四合院，苏州的水乡，平遥古城，阆中古城这些，也没多少。
