You can probably use HVAC vent foil tape, reflective and strong adhesive. Or there’s heat shield tape for automotive engine bay usage, extreme heat resistance. Both options should be flame retardant.

Looks like aluminum sheet that he's cut out and bent to shape. Thin sheet of course, but thicker than foil. Foil wouldn't hold it's shape well while you're trying to mount the LEDs and everything.

@@xtnuser5338 I've got aluminium tape for going around potential light leak areas. I wonder if that would work mounted on some perspex like I see some of the " diffused light boxes" are made with.

@@Wasabi_Tears Maybe it would. You can buy aluminum sheet in many different alloys and many different thicknesses. In this particular video, it looks like he may have carved out little forms from wood or something, and then pressed/folded the metal around the forms to create his shapes.

Well yeah they look cool and the work was pretty good but i don't know how the car fitted with these handmade tail-lights will pass the annual MoT inspection for example because these tail-lights are not tested & approved for the car from the factory and no warranty is offered, how much they will work on the car without any electrical issues, no warranty offered for them by the crafter and nothing about how much would cost a pair (both rear lights as a set).. not even mentioning the fact that when police will stop the car fitted with such custom- lights driver might get a hefty ticket since the lights are not homologated for the car.. so overall is a great thing to watch and even though OEM might be dull for some but are still much more safer considering all aspects i mentioned (want more light ? up-grade few bulbs to top spec !)..

@@poplaurentiu4148 Unless you mean fitting in a different bulb type, just upgrading to a higher quality bulb isn't going to give meaningful increase in light. The light produced is going to be related to the energy consumed, and bulbs need to be of similar wattage to what they are replacing or bad things start to happen, such as things melting. I'm not sure what you mean by MoT inspection but I grew up in NY state and getting 3rd party aftermarket lights is fine (grab em real cheap off eBay), and while there are absolutely safety concerns around the quality of a light made by hand (if you don't have the skills to be confident in the work obviously don't do this) I don't see how legally this is any different.

@@Mad-Lad-Chad I can only speak for the EU but I guess it's similar for the UK. You can only install aftermarket parts that have the right certifications. Think TÜV and the like. Aftermarket lights usually have what's called an "E-number" that will refer to all the certifications. You won't pass the mandatory inspection (every 1 or 2 years depending on where you live) if you have custom parts that are untested by some governing bodies. I see some people install OEM parts for their inspection and fit the aftermarket parts afterwards again. But if you get pulled over and the cop is bored, they will check for aftermarket parts and their certifications. If you don't have the right paperwork then you're in for a bad time. Where I'm from they will take your licence plate and have the car towed. You have to pass another inspection before you get your plates back. And those inspections are very thorough. Unlike the ones you have to do regularly you can't just go to your buddies shop who will look the other way for some issues. No, those inspections are done by state officials and they will find everything wrong with your car. Along with that hassle you will get fined into oblivion. Multiple thousands of euro depending on the country.

@@schwuzi In the US there are actually really strict laws around what and when cops can thoroughly inspect vehicles, and that wouldn't be permissible the vast majority of times in the US. In the states I've lived in (in Kansas currently, which has 0 inspections) even when inspections were required that wasn't part of it. As long as the parts function, they didn't care about OEM vs aftermarket. There ARE exceptions like a catalytic converter, in some states these are required to have certain certifications though not all (again, Kansas don't care). There is absolutely a chance that there are other exceptions (like headlights and taillights) that I'm unaware of, but aftermarket parts as a whole don't need to be certified. I have aftermarket brake pads, tires, wheel studs, lug nuts, heck even an aftermarket oil filter cap. I guarantee you not only are those not certified in any meaningful way for inspection, they aren't inspected for certifications. Sure, brake pads are absolutely inspected to make sure they're adequate, but I've never heard of or seen anyone get failed for a certain brand of a certain part. I've also used no name chinese headlight assemblies (not bulbs, entire assemblies) with 0 issues, and again have heard nothing of that mattering. Brief searching has turned up 0 results for me as well though again, I'm talking about US specifically. If the UK will fail you for having headlights that don't match a list of certified brands yeesh, glad I'm not there.

@@Mad-Lad-Chad That sounds so nice. Our laws in Europe are way more strict on that matter. Aftermarket parts like brake pads, discs, bulbs, etc. are not regulated here either. Just things like shocks, springs, exhausts, lights and stuff like that.
