GabeOFFTHEWALL maybe they think their English is terrible because they tend to stutter a lot... I have been an ESL teacher for 3 years and I always tell them their English is good it's just that they tend to stutter a lot which would hinder them most of the time to be fluent in speaking English...

I don't know why knowing english is supposedly intelligent or reassuring for the future. Chinese are well enough with their language. Also Russians. And Japanese. Quite the contrary learning multiple languages only functions when working in other places if they have no feeling to move on to another country it is not needed in any way, and that actually is more effective as they would bring benefits to their own country instead of a foreign one.

Ricardo De Leon say what you will but you can't deny the buissness aspect of having your country speak English. Singapore for eg has been outspoken about the importance of English to their economy.

+Peggy Royster I have always being against that american invented rule because firstly Russian and Chinese are the most talked languages because of population and landmass so they should be the Capital Languages also it promotes American and other English talking culture in laziness most countries have bilingual education U.S.A does not it biggens they're already big ego. Also world globality isn't a good excuse there are many closed countries to globality and they are extremely good to live in as they have a more richer and fascinating culture in all aspects instead of being extremely similar to one another, and as I said communication only is really necessary if you decide to move from country its respect for the others that promotes language learning.

"Say what you want" This not only makes credibility in your content of future sentences because it uses mine as support putting it above which it is a unrespectful move and also very egocentric on your part. It denies the content on my comment like if I did some madman rambling and makes me think you dindt even read it. Now economy wise this is false Singapore has always being multi diverse as it has always being a trading center so it's not comparable to Japan (which also is a whole country more difference) Also in economic state is different as it's not needed in society and also corrupts the culture by the overused articles and product of other countries and denial of local products (Like Mexico-U.S.A) in contrary if economy is focused in more local businesses (Germany) not only the money goes on and easiest more convenient transition but it rotates in convenience of the whole country without having to divide gains and keeps cultural production in a better state.

I was going to pretend I didn't notice a certain similarity but... yeah 😊 Anyway, if the boy is reading this: don't worry even for a second about it, because - on you - it looks very cool; on me, though, would look absolutely unusual (amalgam of Latin and French looks) Besides, I'm not in a position from where I can tell if your English is "good" by any recognized standard, even less if it can meet your own expectations, but I can tell that it is perfectly fitting to start communicating with most of the world👍

I wonder what I would have said if you asked me the same questions when I was in high school. When I was 17-18, I backpacked through India. On my way back to Japan at the airport, I started talking to one of the staff members. There were very long cues at the security checkpoint so I asked if there was any incident (it was right after 9/11). That stuff member turned out to be a pretty Indian girl and she was very friendly. I wanted to talk to her more and get to know her, but that was just my fantasy. She was just working there and I was leaving. So I guess the answer is yes. Come to think about it, I never really thought about dating 'a foreign girl' when I was young. Or to be more precious, I just didn't frame them as 'foreign girls'. When I was 13, I home-stayed in the US for a month. (Back them I didn't speak English but kinds don't need language to communicate with each other.) There was this pretty girl at the summer camp and I liked her. She was white, but I didn't think of her as a 'white' girl because that was before I learned how to call white people 'white people'. (That word exists in Japanese but we don't really use it that much.) I didn't think of her as an 'American' girl either. Once I was in the US, everyone was American so they just became 'people'. I guess I've just never really had strong racial preferences when it comes to dating. And language barrier neither. I would have totally dated that American girl even though my English was non-existent if she had been interested in me (I didn't know because I didn't ask her and I didn't know how to handle that situation).

That Japanese Man Yuta I'm French and my Mother is from guinea and my dad is actually mixed french Vietnamese. So i'm dark skinned, I only know french culture and my name is VU CONG(pretty confusing i know) But in fact I've never thought about it before. I spent my childhood in french schools in Africa because of my father's job and i used to live with many french speakers but of various origins. And it's when i came back in France that the ethnicity question really came to me because back then it wasn't even a question. Bottom line... i think that the question of racial preferences shouldn't be predominant and that you'll never know which "race" of girl you will fall in love with and you might even get surprised.... Even if the Country in which you live has prejudices. Sorry for the english i'm french😉

@TheCountOrlok
@TheCountOrlok 7 жыл бұрын
Martina Black I usually get the impression that their concept of a relationship is very one-sided. That is not to say that westerners don't have their own [many] misconceptions, but watching these interviews, they sometimes sound very self serving, or even generally confused.
@ricardodeleon3041
@ricardodeleon3041 7 жыл бұрын
+Martina Black Why distorted? A boyfriend/girlfriend relation has hundreds of concepts and "rules" in lots of places, cultures and even religions. There cannot be distortion when there is no good concept or bad one just different concepts. Japanesse are traditionals so the girlfriend/boyfriend or /and dating concepts are quite new to them they have different approaches which I find better than most western one's they are not just about feeling of pleasure but also about benefits for both parties (something that's in all relationships but it's like a taboo to say in most other places) Almost like a cold beneficial relation for both parties involved, used to see if love or emotion grow out of it.

this was a interesting video and I was surprised to hear that most of the boys said they were busy with cram school and such. I think its good for boys and girls to have enough time to make friends and hang out with people and take a break from school and studying even if its 30 minutes. I like their answers when it came to foreign girls because it puts me at ease to know that when I go to Japan and speak there will be people who will listen and be my friend even if my Japanese isn't that good (I'm working on it!)

The title should be "How WOULD Japanese School Boys Date" because none of them have had any real experience. Sorry, but I have encountered real high school dating couples that should've been interviewed for this instead. Even so, maybe only 1-in-10 Japanese high school students actually date.

Honestly learning Japanese is hard for me as well as reading japanese and writing in japanese I wish instead of learning Indonesian at my school it could be Japanese

Mikasa but it's our national language right.. Just buy the right supplement books. The revised Minna no Nihongo (2015) is very good and understandable. There's another book for case studies too, I bought all set of it and I think it's better than going to Japanese Course. Going to social club (like these guys!) are important too, so you could just speak to native Japanese. Btw where are you from? In Bali we have Japanese language as 3rd language lesson (after Indonesia and English) since 7th grade all the way until we graduate. Thats what peaks my interest in Japanese..

Mikasa sorry. I thought you're Indonesian. Yes I've heard that Aussies got Indonesia language as their second language. And I'm so sad for you.. well if you try to explain it to your mom nicely, maybe she'd understand. The book isn't that expensive (around 5 USD each) and with only 1 set of book, you could learn a long way. Just try to ask her!

it's because when looking at the language grammatically, Japanese has many things that English doesn't such as subject markers. for a person who speaks English, to add this into their knowledge is far more difficult than for a Japanese person just to remove. this applies to many things other than subject markers as well. on top of that, English is a mandatory class in most Japanese schools. basically all millennials and younger for sure know English and some older as well because they have all been learning English since about 6 and they are forced to use it as much as possible (I've seen schools where you are required to speak English every where except 'Japanese class')

*it's because when looking at the language grammatically, Japanese has many things that English doesn't such as subject markers. for a person who speaks English, to add this into their knowledge is far more difficult than for a Japanese person just to remove.* Sorry, but this is just wrong. The grammar of English and Japanese respectively are completely alien to one another, and are equally difficult to learn for speakers of the other. It's true that Japanese has topic markers while English doesn't, but English still denotes the same information through word order and morphological structure, so Japanese people learning English still need to put the same amount of effort into learning the new grammatical system. Think about it this way - all languages need to encode the same information, they just do it in completely different ways. The more different that way is from your native language, the more difficult the language will be to learn. Since English learners of Japanese and Japanese learners of English are learning a language equally distant from their native language in terms of structure, it will more or less have the same level of difficulty.
