I live in Minato-ku, Tokyo. This happens to me almost every day. Even though I speak in fluent Japanese, people think they hear English, or they try to answer in English. Of course, the gags in this video are exaggerated for comedic effect, which help to drive the point home.

“There are people like this these days” 😂 Says it all. LGBT 作り方を皆んなだいたい分かるんですよね。😂 considering birth rate in Japan you should be very careful with “minority” rights. It might turn out that one day minorities would beat majority too. 😅

This “appropriating” topic is done by the media owners themselves. The media heavily race baits, and creates negative tension inappropriately. It’s these companies that profit from monopolising the industry, cultures, fashion, traditions adopting your nationality like a business trend

I notice almost all of these people used lots of hand gestures while mimicking English. I am American, but unlike many of my fellow Americans, I don't talk with my hands. In fact, it annoys me when people wave their hands all over the place for no reason, as if their mouths can't work without flapping their wings around like a chicken. Does all that hand-waving seem peculiar to Japanese people?

You mentioned as possible reasons to get these services that maybe the guys are not handsome enough or not good at sex. But for me personally the thing that stops me from seeing random men is just fear. What if they become violent, what if they force me to do something I don't want, or take pictures? I haven't used these services or plan to, but I think one important reason for women is probably that they look for security. edit: oh yeah, the lack of communication. It's so bad. I've been trying to hook up with a Japanese guy recently, we even went on a date that was really fun and a bit of sexual tension was built up... But still have absolutely no idea if he likes me or not. He expresses 0 emotions. Japan's low birth rate make so much sense now.

Yes on average, American English sounds like an odd German accent!! Yes, also Americans are loud and obnoxious, so as to sound like a certain German ww2 advisory!

My impression is that many of the foreign English speakers they have interacted with are outgoing and positive people. Also be aware that likely most of their English exposure is from media and people speak differently in media than they do in conversation

When I lived in Japan, I was surprised to find the Japanese the most politely prejudiced people in the world. Seems they’ve dropped the politeness now, and are just going for that old-fashioned prejudice.

Grandma at 2:00 is very based. Media is always best in it's original language with a subtitle job. I love Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, Swedish... Movies from all over the world and voice overs are always terrible. Animated media and video games there is more wiggle room but live action should never be dubbed over.

You are absolutely correct. Many Japanese instructors "shield" learners from more advanced information. Maybe they think it's too much at once, or it's too difficult. I call this "Japanese with training wheels". I really wish my early instructors had at least mentioned pitch accent.Maybe one issue with people like me who learned mostly by ear. We understood spoken Japanese, and we think we're repeating that back, but maybe we're not.

It's a minor concern when taken to some extremes but nothing more; as with everything having to do with judging others' preferences, it tend to be overblown. Personally I'd say I have a mild case of yellow fever but I know little about most asian culture (except maybe JAPAN lol and its not for me) and have dated women of many ethnicities EXCEPT asians. My fever is well under control 😅

Americans must be the only nationality that will tell you which state or city they are from when you ask them where they are from. They just assume you already know American geography.
