All these deals are loop holes to get around PSR. However I do think Villa are actually getting players that are high potential and the ones we are letting go as much as we like them or want them to do well there is a reason Emery is letting them go technical attributes aren’t everything the mental and psychological side and personality type is also important. Duran is a prime example all the attributes will probably be a great striker but his attitude is a problem. with Tim and Omari Kellyman I think maybe it’s a mental thing and they struggle to step up due to that and that’s why Emery is ok to let them go and then get some mentally strong youngsters in like the ones we are. Monchi and Villa will have put the work in to make sure these transfers are best for the club. Roger’s and Ndelcavik both mentally strong to go with there attributes.

We've achieved goals faster than we expected to, and as a result we are mostly having to recruit a standard of player ready to play at that level. Iroegbonem, Kellyman, might have developed to play there in 2-3 yrs when we projected we'd get there, but we're having to sacrifice them and follow a different path to stay at that level and not fall foul of PSR

The age issue is a bit of a red herring. Spain currently have a 16 year old tearing up the Euros. Owen was 18 when he made his England debut. Rooney 17. If you’re good enough you’re old enough. If youngsters aren’t getting game time, it’s probably not because of their age.

I think one of the strengths we have in the squad is that we have plenty of leaders in the team emi, konsa, mings, Carlos, mcginn, Watkins so I think 3-4 newbies will be able to fit in easier than somewhere like Chelsea or utd which lack the characters IMO.

Chelsea have been doing it for years. The pure profit from the transfer fee for the player departing goes straight on the P&L, then the fee for the player in gets amortised over 5 years. Tim out for 9M, then Dobbin in for 2M a year for the next 5 years (10M total) puts 7M profit on our P&L now. Effectively we have swapped Tim for Dobbin plus 1M, but the way we have done it has given Villa 7M on this seasons P&L and Everton like 8.2M.

Next to Hollywood, the Premier League is the greatest show on earth and i don't have a problem with big wages etc. You have to compare the wages to top Hollywood stars doing the rounds. But no-one says anything about them!

Swap deals make sense, in that the PSR rules are a pseudo wage cap and the swap is prevalent in American sports where caps rules exist. I am for PSR, provided everyone abides. It’s just unfortunate we have been run so poorly in the past and are now cleaning up the books by selling prize assets. The Everton deals represent a net profit of just under $10m to Villa this fin year pre tax 10m sale for Tim less 10m/5yr amortisation / 12 limit on Dobbins fee. Would be the same in their books.

To me Dobbin is just a PSR deal for this season, he’ll be sent out on loan and if he does well then we’ll see. If Dobbin plays out on the left I can’t see him getting in the side if front of Rogers or Ramsey (if fit)

The academy last couple of years has been producing quality talented young players with bags of pontential , so the academy is doing its job , we will need it more than ever to play smart in the transfer market . I would love to see more youngsters stay at the club , but sadly many wont make it , but will make it at other clubs many i believe are good enough for other premier league clubs . We are having selling on fees & buy back clauses with many of our youngsters which is a good thing as with in the past we have just let them go . Smart clubs have all this in play . As our revenue streams are increasing season on season now hopefully we will get to the point we wont have to sell our most talented players .

Very very few youngsters actually make it for us, it was difficult when we were average or in the championship but now we're dining at the top table its almost impossible. If we sell 4 kids every summer to buy one first teamer that's great business. Answer to the recurring question about not playing the kids: they're not good enough, in Unai's view. Only time will tell. As fans we want to see our academy players coming through to playing for Villa like Ramsey, Hendrie and Agbonlahor but on the trajectory we're on makes it harder for those players to contribute at that level. I dare say JJ wouldn't get a game now if he was 19. Smith played him because we were at a level that allowed him to come in, and fortunately he did!

Let's hope we've got a thoroughbred in Dobbin and not a donkey.

Iv'e always been a fan of Iroegbunam & i honestly think he is the sort of player Dyche will like , Everton will suit the lad down to the ground i think he is one of those players that does the dirty work in midfield you need those kind of players to allow others to play , has lots of potential , has played pretty much all england levels shows the lads talent . I look forward to watching his career flourish . He isn't the right fit for Villa sadly but for Everton under Dyche i think he will love the lads work ethic . I think we don't sell Iroegbunam or Kellyman if it wasn't for the ffp we don't have time to develop them & its sad because i think given time they're first team players in the making . We are having to be smart in the transfer window & our young talented players are taking the hit.

Kellyman off to Chelsea so there goes another that had real potential, that said it’s good money and that’s level we are at now. I think we haven’t brought youth through now for a long time bar Grealish and Ramsey. We could have and we bought in some poor players that blocked them. Now it’s a different situation and we won’t be seeing youngsters being anything but income. The exceptions will be if they are truly exceptional. So all in all nothings changed other than we don’t buy so many duff players.
