The speaker talks about how the growing disconnect between Indian cinema and literature might be held a culprit for the misrepresentation of Indian culture.
Mohana Krishna Indraganti is an Indian film director known for his works predominantly in Telugu cinema. His debut directorial venture Grahanam (2005) fetched him eleven awards including the National Film Award for Best First Film of a Director, the Nandi Award for Best First Film of a Director and the Gollapudi Srinivas Award for Best First Film of a Director. The film was also showcased in the Indian panorama section of the 2005 International Film Festival of India. He holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from York University.

Yes. This is a heartfelt and sincere talk with a clear goal. The disconnect that you are talking about (obsessed about) is a known and is more pronounced in the section that does not care much about the past. This applies to all fields, music, for instance. Hope you carry your (this) talk to larger audiences (of course, you tube is one) and thus pass on the benefit of your invaluable experience. Ultimately beginnings have to be made "at home". All the best!

This is a compelling and very relevant talk. Literature opens up creative, cultural, social and political arenas we never knew about. Reading a historical analysis is one thing, but stories give us a perspective on the then attitudes, and greatly develops empathy and humility, and becomes a spiritual experience in understanding our place in a diverse society. In a way, stories connect people and act as cultural bridges.
