@@BriggensAdventureGerald Williams got a beginning, a middle, and an end, and that's more than many Zomboid characters can say. the fact his story ended not with his death but that he had accepted self-peace as well is the cherry on top. there's poetry there even in a small video game.

AA me and all my friends have followed you for (insert number) of years now and you are one of our favorites. I personally love having your rimworld VoDs on in the background during the sleep times. Then try to keep up on your streams and more recent stuff In the waking hours. I do love your philosophical stuff from back in the day but I think you are doing a great job of neither coming nor going and just being. And as long as you keep staying in the state of being ambiguous, I will, continue to keep, honestly lost my train of thought. I think I don't have enough of periods in that run on sentence. You're the best man. Keep on.

I rarely do stuff like that, but there was two times in my life where situations like that happened to me. One such time, was back when I was a teenager playing ps3 I got side tracked by doing something for my mum and returned looking all around the room for the controller even went as far as crawling under the bed thinking it had fallen down the side of the bed or something, only to see a red light near my hand and realise I had the controller in my hand the whole time. the other was when I was roughly around 20-21 years old I was on the phone to a IRL friend, and was saying to him ill be on my way to town shortly (was rushing around getting things i.e. wallet, keys etc) half way down the street I pat my pocket where I always have my phone, then I said (on the phone) "shit sorry mate ill be a few minutes longer than I said I forgot my phone at home" *I turned around to start walking back home* he followed up with saying "how are you talking to me then mate *laughing*". We are human after all, mistakes are made, and the smallest laps of judgment/memory can cause you to do some silly things. :P

I only found AA from watching his friend Private Limes PZ runs. Not trying to do a plug because it's kind of distasteful but AA has said numerous times to check his channels playthroughs because as far as multiplayer goes, Private and a few other friends are the only ones he can trust to really be teammates because they know what they're doing and really do want to help or succeed. Other "popular" youtubers of today that I've seen them play with.. well lets say.. they're more out for views for doing sneaky things, betraying and lying to teammates for laughs on own channels when posting. You probably know what I mean. But Limes playthroughs are freaking epic just like AAs are. Not even a movie or best show ever has had zombies play out better than some of their runs. The close calls, taking on that 10K horde (or trying to), man you're missing out if you don't know yet. It's really the updates and youtubers like them and CallMeKevin (another trustworthy PZ friend of AA's) who have kept this game so alive. Significant upgrades virtually nonstop, I've been playing it nonstop for almost 3yrs getting tired of GTA5 and unrealistic updates, like one with the laser and magic teleport guns, floating motorcycles (san andreas jet pack pushed the boundary on that stuff but it was fine in that game because it was _fun_ ) or sound weapons etc. I want realism, not stuff a 12 yr old would think is cool. But in PZ, there's always something new to do, a minigame within the game to play, sky is the limit. As long as you follow one rule. Don't die.

The, "when will it be 1.0" debate you were going on about @54:00. The reason some of us want 1.0 (the number does not matter really) is not that we want 1.0. At least for me, its becasue I would want to know when to look into a game again. Meaning when will it ACTUALLY be done. I have reached a point where I will not buy a game any more unless it's done. No more messing with the game, changing it, adding to it, or worst of all turning it into something else. I want to know what I pay for is what I will get in the end. So many games are doing this lately where they just never 'finish' thier game. That's fine in some situations, assuming they only add things to the END of what is currently the end of the game (most (good) MMOs for example). But other games I wont play because they keep adding content that changed the core of the game (Stellaris, Minecraft, or even this game). Thus forcing you to start over to experiance the 'new' content. I, and people like me, do not want to put time, effort, and money into a game, just to have them make a change and force me to learn new rules to the game (making it not the game I bought), or at worst start over (making me lose all my progress I have put into it). That said, I do know games like this one (and Rimworld, Kenshi, Dwarf Fortress) are player narrative focused. The player has a direct hand, or not, in the 'story' or flow of the game. It's the whole reason I watch your channel, you do a GREAT job at taking random things that happen in a game and pulling a story from it, then telling it in a compelling way. To that end, keep up the good work.
@Batsquid_
@Batsquid_ Ай бұрын
I think I see what you’re getting at, though at least insofar as needing to basically start over to integrate with any new systems, Zomboid does have the advantage of being sort of a run-oriented game. Its not exactly a roguelike or anything, but its kind of encoded into the game's nature that you shouldnt be too precious about a character or a run. And lots of what is getting added seems to be more about filling out the back end of the game after you kind of establish yourself, such that players have more material goals than just going to Louisville or something. Some of it DOES change the road to get there, such as the planned addition of siphons or new crafting mechanics, but at least for Zomboid these systems are being added in parallel, not really undercutting the established ways to play the game other than maybe adding some new unique stuff like more advanced metalworking. Or when they do, a la the siphon, to counterbalance that the devs are adding more concrete methods to pick up key items and tools like that. Idk, I like living games like PZ or Deep Rock Galactic, both are or have been very rewarding to me for having jumped onboard before the full release.

Regarding long-form videos, I gotta be honest, I don't know what to do with 9-12 minute videos anymore. I'm not sitting down for only 10 minutes to watch 1 video, and I am not allocating time to scour for more short videos anymore (might be an age thing). I just want a nice, long, 1 hour+ video to chill to. But I still watch every AA video, to be fair, just maybe as a warm-up, or to eat. 🤭

Me too. I find myself watching documentaries now or stream archives. The only thing about AA I would offer, in terms of light critique, is that the "all negative perks" runs are a bit boring. Watched all kinds of "old" horror movies growing up available from the library, or from Blockbuster, or other small town movie rental shops. Recently saw "The Last Man On Earth" again with Vincent Price and a lot of these PZ runs and my own are so similar sometimes it's uncanny. Had forgotten exactly how that movie went down because I read Andersons "I Am Legend" a few years before getting hands on any of the movie versions including Omega Man with Heston. Not a fan of Will Smith unless it's old eps of Fresh Prince of bell air, I could never bring myself to watch that version even if free. The book _is_ the best. But minus the creatures driving buggies and shooting guns - don't forget a certain zombie/vampire guy outside, one of the braindead kinds yet a touch of sentience? to speak, where night after night, same dead dude saying "Morgan, can you hear me? We're going to kill you Morgan. Morgan? Can you hear me? Moooorgan..." - where some runs have been _incredibly_ similar to what happened in that film. Same with his friend p.l.'s runs. The movie has holes in it, like why didn't he build a super fortified castle vs a rickshaw door and 3 boards over each window that somehow kept them out for 3 long years makes me wonder if the devs did that on purpose in this game. 3 boards in this game and you're good. It was so funny seeing the similarities just left and right. Vincent Price never had a human controller moving him around to help him make the right decisions for the situation and what he chose to do with his life those 3yrs after the virus hit, but in this game, that's what we kind of do. We are Vincent Price. This game has given us a chance to stand in his shoes and make better or worse decisions. He went out for supply runs for food, meds, guns, ammo, equipment, near infinite cars to drive, homes to pilfer, etc, weapons, exactly like this game. Gas runs from a broken down tanker on the highway, a _nice_ generator, safe in the daytime with sunlight, but the one thing he did not have was a safe place to stay at night from not wanting to abandon his laboratory. It was the worst example of a "fort" or base you could ever possibly imagine (living in a tent looked about as safe) but back then at that time in cinema, maybe for that movie they didn't want the dead or infected being that violent or scary because if a guy tripped on the doorsteps and faltered forward, the door would break right through the frame that would move when Vincent opened and closed it. By no means was it sealed but he kept a bar on the inside to keep it closed, and could never sleep (real sleep) from the z's outside moaning and saying his name all night. He kept garlic and mirrors on the door but they'd break it every night so an everyday thing was for him to visit mirror stores to replace but I wondered why didn't the intelligent undead get some hazmat suits, smash the mirrors w stones, then push the door or 3 board windows through. I don't want to spoil it anymore than I have but it's a great and fun way to play. Who would have guessed this was a role playing game where you're really Vincent Price? I kind of did at the beginning, you know, the cool mall I think of Day of the Dead (or which ever one that was, sorry) but this whole, "all alone" thing especially turning off meta events is the same thing. Anyone reading this far, give the movie a shot, it's free here on yt (I don't see ads, so not sure how bad that can be for others so maybe try another streaming platform for no ads) and no this not an ad either since most everything today _is_ one. It's impossible to believe the games devs haven't watched Last Man many, _many_ times and incorporated much of this and surely countless other things of similar nature; like the Romero movies and a few others. I know we can do anything we want in sandbox, but it really seems if playing a regular game and no specific mod overlay (like nuclear winter, ccda, one tile start, etc.), that that's kind of how it is. It's Last Man On Earth. Glad I saw that movie. It felt like watching a good pz run. A really good one. But missing a fortress that NO z could come within a few miles of with traps including minefields and military guns to mow down as needed if in direct sight.. the man couldn't sleep (it's funny, it was of his own doing; he'd just turn the volume up on his record player even with dead peoples fingers and hands griming and worming through the gaps in the 3 window boards, that was _somehow_ good enough for him to catch 4-5hrs each night) where you'd think he had the veteran job bonus to do that, night after night and be desensitized but he wasn't. He hated it. They should have shown him going mad/insane which it did, but not as deep as it *_should_* have been. The character was certifiably insane, who wouldn't be unless already a little "different", but without those "negative character traits" it wasn't as realistic like watching character suffer bad from long LONG term sleep deprivation where slowly, things go wrong (unable to properly think or connect ideas/thoughts, let alone comprehend and retain memories of anything they read or do beyond a day or 2, walking fast is a joke, fumble things is common, forgetting everything, they talk different - talking to himself in the movie kind of conveyed that feeling - and generally make mistakes with all they do) which was disappointing since it's a very real thing in real life and the game PZ. Guess that's kind of what happened to him too thinking deeper about it now. The movie does have an ending after all.
