It's like going to the gym one day 7 hours or every day one hour. Wich way your muscles grow faster? It's exactly the same. Don't try to do 10+ minutes until you've been at it consistently for at least a month. 3-5 minutes is the optimum for many of the benefits. When starting out, if your body starts shivering uncontrollably, set a timer for 1 minute and then get out. That's your body telling you it's struggling to keep your core temps warm.

I do 10 minutes mostly 2 x daily. First thing in the morning with my cuppa coffee and the last thing I do before I get into bed but sometimes I’m old for seven minutes and the most I’ve ever done is 17. The water is always below 40 degrees. Usually around 35 when entering and my body temp heats it up about 5 degrees. It’s a 6’ tank and I have access to an industrial ice machine very very close to home. Going to install a water chiller though so it won’t warm up and eliminate the need to drag coolers of ice around

Yes very healthy to activate cold shock response and the diving response at the same time… can give heart stroke to people who have little experience with cold exposure. If you’re NOT experienced, don’t step in a ice bath and dive under people. It can be very dangerous and for your heart its like stepping on the gas and on the brakes at the same time.

I'm doing plunges from 46.5 to 57 degrees. I do two sessions back to back. I do one session for about 5-8 minutes at 53-57 degrees then a shorter plunge at 46 for 3 minutes. I'm seeing how two different temps impact me because both have a different impact on me. I'm doing it for its mental benefits.

5 minutes can be a lot for people. I think the general recommended length especially for beginners is more like 2-3 minutes. You don’t want to experience after drop. I’ve experienced it and even when you get out and try to warm up you are very cold for a long time and I was even shivering for very long time and it’s not good for you or fun at all. I practice the wim hof method and done hundreds of cold showers and a few ice baths along with a cryo chamber. Wasn’t just being a baby or dramatic, after drop is a real thing and don’t force 5 minutes just because this guy on the internet does it. You can get better at longer times after progressive experiences as he said
@mRSChopf
@mRSChopf Жыл бұрын
I did 5° degrees for 10 minutes - first time. I was shivering for 15-20 minutes after it too. You just need to relax and be sure you gonna be good. It’s not that it is bad for you. Just your mind fooling you!
@Coalition4NewerVision
@Coalition4NewerVision Жыл бұрын
@@mRSChopf I would not agree that it is your mind fooling you. If I’m not mistaken after drop is literally when your core temperature begins to decline and you experience negative effects like having difficulty warming up and shivering for a long time. Not smart to recommend it for just anyone. Wim Hof can do over an hour in ice but he’s experienced and if you listen to wim and his instructors about afterdrop it is a real phenomenon and shouldn’t be messed around with. Just progressively build up and don’t be dumb. Afterdrop in the experience I described took what could have a been a good feeling after the ice bath (as is common like an endorphin rush etc) and made me feel horrible for a long time. Why not just do it the right way and reap the benefits instead of making yourself feel like shit after
