He was BB and there was no raise. What was he supposed to fold instead of check? And he hit a pair on the flop which you almost always continue with heads up

He was the big blind, and Phil didn't raise. He checked his option, then hit his pair. Maybe he finds a fold if Phil raises on the flop, but that's doubtful playing heads up.

The odds of 78 hitting 2 pair is the same as 72 hitting 2 pair. The only difference is one will win and one week be the suckers hand who was splashing around when he called preflop with 72. 🤷🏻‍♂️

He's as good as me. Knowing what you're opponent has and that you're beaten but still making the call. Pros know to fold in those situations, we amateurs can't let go of good hands.

Seriously there is only so much you can do to mentally, emotionally, and physically prepare for this game. Luck plays its own part. Ive had lucky nights where I couldn't stop getting decent playable hands, and I've had nights where I didn't get a fuckin hand the whole night. Some people have those lucky nights more often than others, some people just simply belong in casinos, and I am neither.
