3 to 6 month clothes checklist here ( • How many 3 to 6 month ... )
6 to 12 month clothing checklist here ( • How many 6 to 12 month... )
What are the newborn clothing essentials? And how many of each item of baby clothes do you really need in their wardrobe? I am pregnant with my second baby and I have made this video of the exact clothing and number of each item to help other new mums. I had the wrong items and way too many last time so I hope this minimalist checklist will help you with your newborn wardrobe essentials.
Enjoy

This was extremely helpful as a first time mom - especially the number of clothes! I was going out of my mind wondering how much I would need and what should I buy since the choices are endless! Thank you for this! Also would love a video of other baby stuff - what is necessary and what isn’t, quantity even perhaps nursery organization? Love your style and surprised you don’t have more subscribers so here’s a new one now! 😊

I'm so glad it was helpful! I remember the confusion when expecting my first. When are you due? I'm planning on making a newborn essentials video soon, I'm glad you are looking forward to it. I'll also be doing a hospital bag one next week, you might like that too. So happy to have you as a subscriber, thank you, I only started popping up videos a month and a half ago so hopefully the channel will grow.

Great video. We were sort of minimalist and had about 6 x NB footed long sleeve sleepers, 6 x 0-3 footed long sleeve sleepers, 4 x 0-3 white singlets (but you're right they ride up so white body suits would've been better), 4 x 0-3 short sleeve rompers, 3 x 0-3 grey merino or cotton cardigans or kimono-style jerseys (so didn't have to put over his head), 2 x plain wool hats, 1 x plain sunhat (but mostly just kept him out of the sun), 1 x grey merino booties. No socks, pants/shorts. We had cloth nappies and didn't have leaking problems so didn't go through clothes too quickly.

A great minimalist list you have here. I think going through it currently with my new baby I could definitely have gone more minimalist. I forgot how quickly they grow out of newborn clothes. In a bit sad he doesn’t fit the cute tiny sleepers. We didn’t have much itch with cloth nappies, we tried with our first for a while but so math leaks and bad nappy rash

First time mom here at 22 weeks. Just started preparing for the baby and this video was very helpful! Not to forget a couple of blankets, baby bath robes and some kind of flees outer-wear overall when bringing baby to the pediatrician in the winter and walking from the car to the parking lot or around the block. Although it's probably dangerous to keep the baby outside in the winter for more than mere 2 minutes...omg...I need to watch many, many more videos..I'll be fine though....😬

Thank you so much for this! I’m very cautious of not having too many unnecessary clothes (first baby), this really helped me confirm I was on the right track as I’m also naturally panicking I haven’t got enough. Just need to keep reminding myself that people buy baby clothes as gifts AND I can always buy more if needed when baby is here. I love that you put the list at the end of the video too, I’ve screen shot it! X

This is so helpful thank you! I've been trawling youtube looking for a simple list of the basics with exactly how many you need with a newborn as we are on quite a strict budget and live abroad so unlikely to be able to receive many clothes as presents at least when he first arrives . I would LOVE you to do a newborn general essentials video at some point but I know you are busy with your new little one - congratulations! I'm due in November.

Fun to see others preferences! I found 14 complete outfits in 0-3 was more than enough. So we had 14 short sleeved vests (bodysuit) that were worn under everything at all times, it gave us 2 vest per day incase nappies leaked. 7 babygrows/sleepers/gowns. Then 7 bottoms, and 7 tops, some were just long sleeve t-shirts and others were long sleeve vests. I thought having 2 sets of crotch snaps on one outfit would be awkward but it actually wasn't. Then we had a couple of cardigans. Our climate is fairly miserable year round. Oh and we also had 5 vests and 5 babygrows in newborn but these were outgrown by time we got home from the hospital, I wouldn't buy that size again personally. We didn't have many leaky nappies or a pukey baby so it worked out great for us with only washing roughly once a week. I know everyone is not that lucky! We had way too many clothes in every other size, most went to the charity shop with tags on. People can be so generous with the baby gifts 🎁

Same!! I keep wondering how much more do others buy that they feel the need to say that? I do laundry once a week, so at least 7 outfits but with babies a few extra outfits for blowouts or spit ups seems logical. 😅 It is just confusing when they say that, makes you think 7 outfits is over doing it which is obviously not the case. Besides there’s, sleepwear, play wear and depending on weather you may need other accessories. And I’m also speaking from a minimalistic perspective 😅 I think people who say that are probably people who spend too much already lol

You can also go to thrift stores/garage sales for baby clothes! I got a lot of my intial clothes for 75 cents a piece at a garage sale, and got some more yesterday from a thrift shop for $1.50 each. Even though I'm only 13 weeks pregnant now, I'm really making sure to go to garage sales since there's a lot of garage sales in the summer, particularly now that I know the gender.
