My first job was demolition smashing the walls and removing old high rise building pipes. Employees were not allowed to take the copper and we would put it in big 40 yard bins with all the smashed plaster and garbage etc. I would come back after hours at night and take all the old copper pipe 🤣 I would make hundreds extra every week!! Then I done framing new construction townhouses and I would go behind the electricians and plumbers after hours and pick up all their clean scraps on the floor. Copper has been good to me 😅

Here in the USA we have locking extension for 1/4" hex drive, 6" and 12" long, would be great for taking that pool heat apart...

I stripped same pool heater this past week. I think i pulled apart more of the shell to get to those last couple bolts holding the element in place. But liberating the copper from the stainless was much the same. I used large pliers to pull the copper after/while driving it out with a hammer. working on a tailgate is sooooo different than a set up space. anyways, great job. did they give you clean copper for the heater element? my yard claimed it was not pure copper

Heater I got had heavy brass manifold but yard gave me 90-10 for elements. Copper color was a tad off.

In Tampa they don't pay anything more for stainless steel then scrap steel

Now I know you are going after copper. A nice stripping video and in the end, a good copper score. Those partitions inside the heater are called refractory plates. Some of them I came across in furnaces in refineries can withstand temperatures of upto 3000 degree F. Even after discard, they are good insulators which you can use domestically for some creative works.

Yes, those light white boards are CFB (ceramic fibre board). As insulating panels most are rated to about 2300deg F. Touching them is fine but don't breath any dust from them. I know about them because some people use them in building rocket mass heaters or rockwt mass stoves. Expensive materials that stuff.
