Dr Brown, I used to get your emailed newsletter when searching for a natural alternative to pharma prescriptions for osteoporosis. Glad to see you now on KZfaq. My request is how to cut through the complexities of how vitamin supplements work molecularly and tailor a daily program for sunshine deficiency, long Covid exhaustion, hair loss as if I'm getting radiation, and a natural supplement for osteoporosis. For example.

The Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) is a set of dietary intake recommendations for various nutrients established by government health agencies, such as the Food and Nutrition Board in the United States. The RDA values are designed to provide guidance on the amount of a specific nutrient that a healthy individual needs to consume daily in order to meet their nutritional requirements and reduce the risk of deficiency diseases. The RDA values are generally calculated based on the average needs of a particular population group (e.g., age, sex, life stage) and take into consideration factors such as absorption, metabolism, and excretion of the nutrient. The goal of setting RDAs is to ensure that the majority of individuals in a population receive enough of the essential nutrients to maintain good health and prevent nutrient deficiencies. On the other hand, therapeutic doses refer to nutrient intakes that are higher than the RDAs and are often used for medical purposes, such as treating certain medical conditions or achieving specific health outcomes beyond just preventing deficiencies. These higher doses are sometimes referred to as "megadoses" or "pharmacological doses." Therapeutic doses can be significantly higher than the RDAs and might be recommended under the guidance of a healthcare professional. The concept of therapeutic doses being higher than the RDA is based on the idea that certain nutrients may have beneficial effects beyond just preventing deficiency diseases. These higher doses are often explored for their potential roles in managing specific health conditions, supporting optimal physiological function, and even preventing chronic diseases. It's important to note that while some nutrients might have well-established therapeutic uses, not all nutrients have been proven to be safe or effective at high doses. Some nutrients can have adverse effects or interactions with medications at high levels. Therefore, using therapeutic doses of nutrients should always be done under the supervision of a qualified healthcare provider who can consider an individual's specific health status, medical history, and potential risks. In summary, the RDA provides guidelines for nutrient intake to prevent deficiency diseases, while therapeutic doses are higher amounts of nutrients that may be used for specific health purposes beyond just meeting basic nutritional requirements. The use of therapeutic doses should be carefully considered and managed by healthcare professionals.

Hello Dc my wife has inflammations she is 33 years old what's the daily recommended usage of Zinc and for now long?
@DrSusanBrown
@DrSusanBrown Жыл бұрын
Hello! On an average day, Dr. Brown typically takes 25-30 mg of zinc per day. When ill, research has found that taking up to 70 to 80 mg of zinc per day, but Dr. Brown mostly recommends taking 45-60 mg of zinc when sick. This is a daily recommendation. However, long-term zinc has may deplete copper, so making sure to take 1-2 mg of copper per day while supplementing with zinc is recommended.

The days I have a big steak An other zinc foods.. should I stil take my 30 my zinc /copper tablet ?
@DrSusanBrown
@DrSusanBrown 6 ай бұрын
Great question about balancing your zinc intake with dietary sources like steak! It's important to consider the amount of zinc you're getting through your diet when supplementing. Large portions of zinc-rich foods, like a big steak, can contribute significantly to your daily zinc requirement. On days when you consume a lot of zinc-rich foods, you might not need the full 30 mg from your supplement. It's all about maintaining a balance - too much zinc can interfere with copper absorption and vice versa. While it's important to balance your zinc intake, specific recommendations can vary based on individual health needs and dietary patterns. Since it's challenging to provide personalized advice on social media, I'd love to invite you to our group Zoom 'Office Hours' sessions: shop.betterbones.com/products/office-hours-w-dr-brown?_pos=1&_sid=f438ee86b&_ss=r These sessions are a great opportunity for more detailed discussions and to get tailored advice. Started drinking herbal teas chamomile peppermint green teas with other ingredients and the big thing was smoothies with added supplements and spirulina , astragalus....and wheat grass shots double shots ...made such an incredible improvement quickly saved my life ...truly without medicine pharma...of any kind .the teas are amazing as are the smoothies and supplements i pickled up the natural supplements .now I know that liquid whole food supplements...

80mg a day when sick?? I thought the max dose was 40mg..
@DrSusanBrown
@DrSusanBrown 8 ай бұрын
Hello, Thank you for your comment! The recommended daily intake of zinc is generally around 25-30 mg for most adults. However, during illness, especially when experiencing symptoms like a cold or flu, some studies suggest that temporarily increasing zinc intake to 70-80 mg per day may have beneficial effects on the duration and severity of symptoms. It's important to note that this higher dose is typically recommended for short-term use during illness and should not be sustained for an extended period. That being said, individual responses to zinc can vary, and it's always advisable to consult with a healthcare professional before making any significant changes to your supplement regimen. Additionally, the recommended maximum dose of 40 mg you mentioned may be a general guideline, and specific health conditions or individual factors could influence the appropriate dosage. If you have any concerns or specific health conditions, it's best to seek personalized advice from a healthcare provider to ensure you are meeting your nutritional needs safely. I hope this information helps clarify the dosage recommendations for zinc during illness!

@DrSusanBrown
@DrSusanBrown 4 ай бұрын
Yes, when our Triple Zinc+ lists "Zinc 15mg (as citrate, aspartate, glycinate)," it refers to 15mg of elemental zinc. This means that the total amount of zinc you're getting from the compound, regardless of the form it's in (citrate, aspartate, or glycinate), adds up to 15mg. The label specifies the amount of actual zinc you are receiving.
